Hi, I've been having a problem for a while now with the google redirect virus. Not sure if it's virtumonde or what but I've tried several scans (smitfraud, spybot, adaware, avg, and superantispyware) but none of them seem to help any. I tried to see if I could fix it through a system restore to restore to an earlier setting on my computer but I believe this infection has taken away my ability to do so. Same issues occur in safe mode. Also, I tried to enable my firewall settings but when I click the windows firewall in my Control Panel I get the following error message: Due to an Unidentified Problem, Windows cannot display Windows Firewall settings.

Here is my log:

Please visit this webpage for download links, and instructions for running ComboFix tool:

http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/combofix/how-to-use-combofix

Please ensure you read this guide carefully and install the Recovery Console first.

The Windows Recovery Console will allow you to boot up into a special recovery (repair) mode. This allows us to more easily help you should your computer have a problem after an attempted removal of malware. It is a simple procedure that will only take a few moments of your time.

Once installed, you should see a blue screen prompt that says:

The Recovery Console was successfully installed.

Please continue as follows:
  • Close/disable all anti virus and anti malware programs so they do not interfere with the running of ComboFix, link
    Remember to re-enable them afterwards.

  • Click Yes to allow ComboFix to continue scanning for malware.
When the tool is finished, it will produce a report for you.

Please include the following reports for further review, and so we may continue cleansing the system:

C:\ComboFix.txt
New dds.txt log.

A word of warning: Neither I nor sUBs are responsible for any damage you may have caused your machine by running ComboFix. This tool is not a toy and not for everyday use.

Hi orangela,

Disable Spybot's TeaTimer to make sure it won't interfere with fixes. You can re-enable it when you're clean again:
  • Run Spybot-S&D in Advanced Mode
  • If it is not already set to do this, go to the Mode menu
    select
    Advanced Mode
  • On the left hand side, click on Tools
  • Then click on the Resident icon in the list
  • Uncheck
    Resident TeaTimer
    and OK any prompts.
  • Restart your computer

Open notepad and copy/paste the text in the quotebox below into it:

Driver::
ffkxqh

File::
c:\windows\system32\drivers\ffkxqh.sys
c:\program files\mozilla firefox\components\ebdccbcdba.dll

Save this as
CFScript

A word of warning: Neither I nor sUBs are responsible for any damage you may have caused your machine. This tool is not a toy and not for everyday use.

Posted Image

Refering to the picture above, drag CFScript into ComboFix.exe
Then post the resultant log.

Combofix should never take more that 20 minutes including the reboot if malware is detected.
If it does, open Task Manager then Processes tab (press ctrl, alt and del at the same time) and end any processes of findstr, find, sed or swreg, then combofix should continue.
If that happened we want to know, and also what process you had to end.

Hi. I went to bed with the intention of finishing the steps in the morning and I wake up to find my desktop has unconfigured it's wireless settings and I am unable to connect to the Internet at all. If I go back to the combofix created storepoint should I run through the steps from the very beginning again?? Again thanks for all your help so far.

Um nevermind, my computer will not let me go back to that storepoint. I'm unable to complete this now. I have no idea how this happened and the Internet was working fine for me last night and I didnt do anything else but it also appears as if my computer restarted itself last night on its own too.

Hi

Have you tried rebooting the system after that?

Please download & run WinSock XP Fix. Is there normal network adapter in your system so that you could try connecting thru wired connection?

Hi. I am using my iPod to respond to this so I cannot connect through my infected computer right now and continue to download software. Is there a way I can manually configure my desktop (HP, XP) to connect to wireless so I can continue with your instructions? I had someone do it for me before but the person is not available to go through the steps with me again now.

By the way I have rebooted several times and no I cannot connect through a wired connection.

Hi

Do you know anyone who could let you use him/her system to download Winsock XP Fix and transfer it to your system?

If you check device manager (Right-click My Computer, click Properties, click the Hardware tab, and then click Device Manager), do you see any items with an exclamation mark there?

Hi. I was able to get my computer to a wired connection so I can connect to the internet fine and I'm not going to go back to wrieless. Should I continue with your original directions, with posting the CFScript and removing all my old Java versions?

Hi again,

You have both Norton Antivirus and AVG installed there. Please decide which one you want to keep and then uninstall the other one. I'd keep AVG since it's never one than Norton AV 2005 :thumbup2:

Open notepad and copy/paste the text in the quotebox below into it:

File::
C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\AOL OCP\AIM\Storage\All Users\localStorage\common.cls
C:\Program Files\Online Services\AOL\United States\AOL90\comps\toolbar\toolbr.EXE

Registry::
[-HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\software\microsoft\windows nt\currentversion\winlogon\notify\afdebeddea]

[-HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\software\microsoft\windows nt\currentversion\winlogon\notify\ljJYSkLe]

Save this as
CFScript

A word of warning: Neither I nor sUBs are responsible for any damage you may have caused your machine. This tool is not a toy and not for everyday use.

Refering to the picture above, drag CFScript into ComboFix.exe
Then post the resultant log & a fresh dds log. How's the system running?

Combofix should never take more that 20 minutes including the reboot if malware is detected.
If it does, open Task Manager then Processes tab (press ctrl, alt and del at the same time) and end any processes of findstr, find, sed or swreg, then combofix should continue.
If that happened we want to know, and also what process you had to end.
