Hi All
My son's HP laptop has Vista and has run smoothly for 3 months.
During the last few days the internet connection has dropped. IE, Chrome and Firefox will not connect to the internet. AVG free will not do updates.
But
Spotify and e-mail do work via the wireless connection.
There was a warning on Zonealarm saying
"The firewall has blocked routed traffic from 1xx.168.0.1(udp port1900) to 1xx.168.0.5 (udp port 59614)
Program. Host process for windows service. There were actually 5 warnings all the same with different port nmbers

So I turned off Zonealarm and ran Windows Firewall instead.
Still nothing.

I tried rolling back 2 days via System restore and this say it has not been successfully. So I tried going back 4 days and had the same response.

Running out of ideas.
Any thoughts would be welcome.

Tony

Hi

Unless you are running Vista I suggest you turn Zonealarm back on.
In XP the Windows firewall only blocks incoming traffic so if there is any malware on your PC such as a keylogger this could be sending information out onto the internet. The firewall built into Visa is a two-way firewall and will block unwanted incoming and outgoing traffic as does Zonealarm.
Next sit tight and wait for a member of the HijackThis team to contact you.

Hi
I have deleted Zonealarm completely from the system and everything is now working.
Must have been some form of conflict in Wednesdays Zonealarm upgrade.
Yes I do have Vista but I am now looking for an alternative free firewall, any top tips.

Hi

If I were you I would sit tight and wait for further advice.
As stated before, there could be a keylogger on your system. Better to be safe than sorry.
