Hey guys im trying to set my computer as a server, for the game im working on. (its a mini game, but its multiplayer). I want to use windows 2000, because this OS is set for Server stuff. But i dont know which one to get.

Windows 2000 Server
Windows 2000 Advanced Server
Windows 2000 DataCenter Server

I want the one that has the most features, and is stable.

My computer specs:

512mb ram
nvidia geforce 2 mx
pentium 4 1.6ghz processor. ( swapping for 1.8ghz processor)

Also, since i have XP home installed now, i want to dual boot.

I have a 80gb harddrive.

thanks!!!!

Get Windows 2000 Server. By the look of your specs you do not require the inherent advantages of Advanced or Datacenter. You're just going to be removing the 'server stuff' anyhow and they are all equally stable.

As a basic server Windows 2000 server will be fine for you!

But why do you need a run a server operating system on your computer? Will the game you are working on not run on Windows XP or which ever version you are running? or is this a seperate machine dedicated to running this game?

also just had a thought!

Why not download and install virtual PC, i belive it is now free from microsofts website, this will allow you to run which every server you choose ontop of your exisiting operating system without the need to dual boot!

Dude
Use Windows 2000 server for your gaming session because depend upon your system configiration so its better to install server. Or if else you can do onething just increase the speed by adding other 1 GB or 512 MB for the accuracy and for dual OS its a best option to increase the accuracy.
