Hi,
I think I have picked up a virus from a USB flashstick. I have tried to go through other logs and find a solution.
1/ Does not allow updates to Superantispyware, Norton, spybot.
2/Does not allow me to get to microsoft, superantispyware, sophos, kaspersky etc internet pages, diverts to 'cannot connect' navigation page.
3/ Home page OK, can still access (most of) internet
4/ Ran HJT nothing 'appears' untoward
5/ Ran rooter.exe - same as above
6/ Cannot access microsoft site to get a recovery file- http://support.microsoft... - ( I don't have the windows CD) so don't want to run Combofix
7/ Noticed a .tmp file in the TEMP file marked je455.tmp- . Had not seen this before, this cannot be deleted- says it is in use
8/ Does not allow OT List2 to run, keeps crashing at CD rom check...... ( looking at taskmanager, CPU 100%, computer crashes- even in safe mode)
9/ After about one hour, noticed that I cannot repair/ disable internet access( wireless) get a message 'if you have selected another program to control connection use that.
10/ After hibernation/ re-activation the computer becomes slower and slower, until useless.
11/ Keep getting ZoneAlarm Red errors to port 50293 TCP flasg S from 192.168.0.3
I think it was from a flash stick, as, I have a back-up HD clone, I replaced my defective one hoping to update spyware and then copy the updates to the duff drive after replacing. I thought I had disabled auto-run ( to FF) in the registry, but I saw autoplay running immediately I put in the flash stick. The drive the became infected- I could not connect to microsoft sites etc after. Any help would be much appreciated. I have tried all I know.
Computer is a Laptop, Vaio, 2.5ghz, CeleronM running XP home sp2. ATTACHED IS THE ROOTER.TXT log
I notice in saudi Arabia they have now made virus attackers/coders serious criminals with the possibillity of a death sentence. I am now heartily in favour of it here.

Hello and welcome to Bleeping Computer

We apologize for the delay in responding to your request for help. Here at Bleeping Computer we get overwhelmed at times, and we are trying our best to keep up. Please note that your topic was not intentionally overlooked. Our mission is to help everyone in need, but sometimes it takes just a little longer to get to every request for help.

If you have since resolved the original problem you were having, we would appreciate you letting us know. If not please perform the following steps below so we can have a look at the current condition of your machine.

If you have not done so, include a clear description of the problems you're having, along with any steps you may have performed so far.

Upon completing the steps below another staff member will review and take the steps necessary with you to get your machine back in working order clean and free of malware.

If you have already posted a DDS log, please do so again, as your situation may have changed.
Use the 'Add Reply' and add the new log to this thread.

Thanks and again sorry for the delay.

We need to see some information about what is happening in your machine. Please perform the following scan:
  • Download DDS by sUBs from one of the following links. Save it to your desktop.
  • Double click on the DDS icon, allow it to run.
  • A small box will open, with an explaination about the tool. No input is needed, the scan is running.
  • Notepad will open with the results.
  • Follow the instructions that pop up for posting the results.
  • Close the program window, and delete the program from your desktop.
Please note: You may have to disable any script protection running if the scan fails to run. After downloading the tool, disconnect from the internet and disable all antivirus protection. Run the scan, enable your A/V and reconnect to the internet.
