I open a movie and it said it needed a "codec" so i downloaded it and a virus warning came up so i deleted it but now i cant open (C:) drive and my computer is slower and freezes regularly and in Internet explorer it opens a new window (not tab) when i click a link and my firewall is disabled every time i log into windows.

so i scanned my machine several times and it finds a file infected with Win32/Patched.Y
so i remove it but it comes back every time

I tried to download windows Defender but when i try to validate it wont work ( not because i have hacked windows) and the Malwarebytes Anti-Malware doesn't open after installation

i don't know what to do can you help..

Rename this file:

C:\Program Files\Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware\mbam.exe

To something else such as:

abcde.bat

Then double click the file and see if Malwarebytes will run.
