Hello:

I already have a post in Hijackthis forum and need to solve this problem for continue with that.

http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/forums/ind...p;#entry1135997

I read the requests (for upgrade) and I think that didnīt forgotten any.

I tried many times and each one gives me about 0,20 GB more on C:\WINDOWS.

I'm trying to upgrade online and at the end of the process Windows Upgrade gives me an error message: "Access denied".

After that, another message: "The Instalation of XP SP 3 doesnīt finish. Windows XP is partially upgraded and may be doesnīt work correctly. It didnīt upgrade the following: XP SP 3 (KB936929)"

I followed the three steps that Microsoft advices (including subinacl.msi and Reset.cmd...), but nothing.

My Registry canīt change?

Just in case, in order to winning time and apologize me if it's not useful; I post the final part of the svcpack.log and spuninst.log.

svcpack.log:

Hi Elpianista!

This Microsoft link may be helpful:

"Access is denied" or "Service Pack installation did not complete"

Also, you should look at this Microsoft article:

Steps to take before you install Windows XP Service Pack 3

Hope this helps.

Hello Zllio:

Thankyou for answer. I read again the contents of the two links, and I found that I didn't understand when Microsoft says: Right Clic (on Reset.cmd) and "ejecutar como administrador" (execute as administrator).

Searching for this on the Net, I found a post relating "execute as administrator" to "Access denied".

The Language of my Windows is in Spanish, so I should change the word "administrators" for "admitradores".

The Link is: http://www.taringa.net/posts/ebooks-tutori...SP3-del-XP.html

Done this I finally could upgrade to SP3. Thankyou.

Hi Elpianista,

It's very helpful that you posted this back to us.

Did you create and run the aaa.cmd file to do this, as described in the link you went to, and if so, is that what worked to change the access rights?

Thanks so much!
Zllio

Hi Zllio:

I'm happy if this information is useful because I thought: who of Bleeping users could have a XP in Spanish?

I followed the steps as is shown in the Link (You can find many ineresting tricks at Taringa, music, films...).

I created the aaa.cmd (copy and paste from the Link) and ran, and this worked to change the access rights.

I did this having the checkmark of the Language Toolbar on Espaņol (Argentina).

It seemed interesting to me the commet #5. This user says that he installed SP3 going into the "Modo a prueba de fallos" (Failure proof Mode?, Safe Mode?). But I don't know what to do after reboot pressing F8.

With Regards, ELpianista.

Elpianista,

I'm glad this worked and thanks much for your feedback and information.

And on a very different topic, I think you picked a great name.

Hi Zllio:

My nickname emerges from the fact I'm a real Piano player, you know Chopin, Liszt...and Beatles, Tango...
There is too much beatiful music. May be Elpianista sounds funny to you, in Spanish.
What means Zllio? I have no idea.
Anyway, the topic is finished, and I added you as a friend.

Regards, Elpianista.
