Hi,

I am having an issue with some kind of malware that prevents me from using my browser to search for anti-virus programs such as AVG and also prvents me from installing programs such as MBAM. I have downloaded MBAM, however when I have tried to install it, the program disappears. I have tried to rename the extension on the file to work around that problem, and also have tried to not use my mouse and work around it by using just the TAB and enter keys, however nothing has worked. I was able to transfer AVG from a jump drive to this computer, however the program is automatically aborted during setup at first, and now will not even begin setup. Also just to note, Spybot S&D was able to run and did not claim to find Virtumonde, only adware and spyware.

Thank you for your response.

If mbam won't install

Some types of malware will disable MBAM and other security tools. If MBAM will not install, try renaming it. Right-click on the mbam-setup.exe file and change the .exe extension to .bat, .com, .pif, or .scr and then double-click on it to run.

If after installation, MBAM will not run, open the Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware folder in Program Files, right-click on mbam.exe and change the .exe as noted above. Then double-click on it to run.
