Antivirus 360 causing BSOD

I received the laptop with antivirus 360. While attempting to install an up-to-date security suite (CA), the laptop blue screened. I tried the following:

1. Come up in Safe mode
2. Boot to Command Prompt
3. Restore to last known good configuration

Nothing worked. The Stop code is C00002a.

It is a Dell Inspiron running XP, one or two years old I believe. The owner (daughters boyfriend) does not have the disks, I am going to request the re-install disk from Dell tomorrow.

Any ideas how to recover? The boyfriend would like to save the music data in the hard drive.

Thanks for any help you can give.

Sounds like a reinstall is in order. To try to retrieve files while still in the laptop, try UBCD
or a Live Linux CD
You can also get a external hard drive enclosure and put the hard drive in it Hook it up to another computer and search for the files
