I'm downloading a 80MB installation file in Firefox and everything seems to be running normally. The download box pops up, and this is strange because I have Download Status bar and the Firefox download box has never popped up at the same time as the download status bar. I don't need Firefox, so I close it and leave Firefox's download box up. Suddenly, the download rate plummets, going from ~500KB/S to ~5KB/S. The download will now take close to three hours, so I reopen Firefox to see what is going on. By the time I get to bleeping computer, download rate went back to ~500KB/S and finished. Any reason the download speed would go down when not on a web page and go up when viewing one? In addition, I'm pretty sure my download speed isn't that slow, any way to check if it is a bad Wi-Fi connection or just the site's servers? I have the Wi-Fi about 15 feet away and the signal isn't going threw walls.
