Hey,

Try the following;
1. Click on Start, Run and type "REGSVR32 SOFTPUB.DLL" (w/o the quotes).
You should see a popup message that this process succeeded.

2. Click on Start, Run and type "REGSVR32 INITPKI.DLL" (w/o the quotes).
You should see a popup message that this process succeeded.

3. Click on Start, Run and type "REGSVR32 MSSIP32.DLL" (w/o the quotes).
You should see a popup message that this process succeeded.
Try connecting again after doing the above and see if you still receive the error message.

Have you recently installed a new Firewall/Anti-virus?

Hey,

Try these.
1. Double click on the clock in the taskbar and make sure the system clock is set correctly.
2. Disable Zone Alarm (if installed)
3. Register wintrust.dll using the regsvr32.exe tool.
- Click Start, and then click Run.
- In the Open box, type regsvr32 wintrust.dll and then click OK.
4. Restart Windows Live Messenger.

Try down grading back to a previous version, also make sure all versions/copies of WML/MSN are uninstall first.

There are reports of this issues all over the internet but no solid fix, different people are reporting different things are fixing it, others have reported that time itself is.

Try this way.

* Go to Control Panel
* Click on Add/Remove Programs
* Click on Add/Remove Windows Components
* And at the bottom of the list, uncheck Windows Messenger

Now "OK" your way back out, and Windows Setup will run and uninstall Windows Messenger.

Ok try this,

* Right Click on My Computer
* Click on Manage
* Expand the Services & Applications node
* Click on Services
* Scroll down to find, and then double click on Messenger
* In the resulting dialog box, set the Startup Type to Disabled.
* Click on Stop to stop the service immediately.

Now "OK" your way back out, and the Windows Messenger Service will no longer run.

Out of ideas after this so fingers crossed!
