But wasn't it always available?

It was, but I am not sure if I saw it on Download.com in the past. The only ones I see posted most are Avast and AVG -- and some others!

Version 9 Beta is great. I am liking the interface and am glad Version 9 was officially released!

Oh, okay. So is it still beta or not? And did they also update the free version or just the paid versions?

All versions are now 9.0.0.386

I am still testing the Release Candidate as is, prior to release -- not the beta anymore, for me. I have the RC test until May 1 of this year.

Last auto update 3/19/09 and it still shows version 8.2.0.347.

Hmm...

I'm confused. Is it still RC or is it already in the general availability phrase?

I'll try to upgrade my computer later.

From Avira:

Avira will support the prior version 8 until 31 March 2010. This gives you plenty of time to plan your migration accurately and to include it in your business’ maintenance cycle.

The RC version is only available for testers, which is still being tested to assist anyone who needs support for Version 9. Version 9 is currently the most Stable Version. If anything bad happens that requires the Beta tester's support, we can work with the testable version!

I've been reading the threads in the Avira forums, and a lot of users seem to be experiencing problems. So I won't be upgrading yet.
