I am not sure if this is the right place for this question, but...

I have a Dell Inspiron 1720 that I have removed Vista and loaded XP on it. I never use the touchpad and it really makes it hard for me to type. As I brush across it with my thumbs it seems to always move my cursor, which most of the time I don't notice till after I have type a few words in the wrong place. Is there a way to disable it? Something simple as I would like to have it available in times of emergency. I have searched on my pc and I don't seem to find anywhere to turn it off/on.

Thanks!

It should be in 'Control Panel, System, Hardware, Device Manager to disable the touch pad.'

Same to re-enable.

If you load the controller then you may have have an "off screen" toggle to use?

I have such on my Toshiba's.
