I am more or less back, still crumbling with the desease I had. I am now helping somebody out/ he has the following specs

Motherboard:
CPU Type AMD Athlon XP, 1250 MHz (12.5 x 100)
Motherboard Name QDI KuDoz 7X / 7X/400A / 7X/600 (6 PCI, 1 AGP, 3 DIMM)
Motherboard Chipset VIA VT8367 Apollo KT333CF
System Memory 256 MB (PC2700 DDR SDRAM)
BIOS Type Award (03/07/03)
Communication Port Communications Port (COM1)
Communication Port Communications Port (COM2)
Communication Port Printer Port (LPT1)

Links http://www.qdigrp.com/qdisite/eng/Products/products_p4.htm for the motherboard

Eventhough I installed direct 8 pc everytime denies having this on board. Looking at the name of the MB it could be that this only
support Directx 7. I saw on the site that I could flash it but before taking that road I would like to knw whether there any other
problem solving road I could take.

Thanks

Hi Fozzie

Is the graphics integrated on the motherboard or is there a seperate graphics card.
The reason I ask is that DirectX is a function of the graphics adaptor. Most graphics cards run on V9 with the newer ones running V10.
Your problem may be caused by you trying to run with V8.

Are you absolutely sure it is onboard video? Everything I know/can find out about that chipset indicates it didn't have onboard video. The VIA "KMXXX" had integrated video.

EDIT: If it was onboard video, DX8 wasn't even in existence when it was made.

Beyond matrix palette skinning, the G550 doesn't accelerate DirectX 8 (or even DirectX 7) T&L function calls.

The card is over 5 years old so that's about how old the games it will play

For newer games a new computer

Your cpu and ram will not handle the newer games

Well and hi. I got the same mainbord. Let me say i use a AMD athlon 3000+ and use 3gb ram (400mhz unstable) (333mhz stable)
I use the new ATI radeon HD3850 agp 512mb pro card and runs like a new pc. Its not always the cpu thats need to be upgrade

Its not the best pc anymore but it can handle stil today with high graphics. Afcourse some time to time it will get messup :flowers: but never to less dont say
the mainbord can not handle it.
