I changed my desktop background to a picture a long time ago. I want to change it to something that is not a picture, like one of the backgrounds that come on the computer. However, when I go to Display Properties > Desktop, all of the background options are grey. When I click Customize Desktop, there is nothing under "web" except "My current homepage" which is unchecked. Is there anything I can do to get my background options back?

Hi

All the Windows wallpapers are in the C:\Windows folder. Click on the Desktop tab of Display properties then click on Browse and navigate to C:\Windows and you will see all the wallpaper bmp files.

Sometimes this works.

Try overwriting the existing background wallpaper by going to a website with a picture, right clicking on that picture and choose 'set as background'.

Then go into display properties again and see if previously greyed out options are available.

I changed the picture, but the background options are still gray.
