Photoshop Elements 6 and pngs

Recently my photoshop elements quit recognizing png files...I cannot open them at all.
I changed file associations in bridge to recognize pngs...no luck.
any suggestions?

try and reinstall the program and see if that helps.

also, you could try and see if there's a patch or update for it.
