Hello, About a week ago my computer got infected with the Zlob.AR virus. I tried to remove it with Malwarebytes Anti-malware but that didn't seem to solve the problem totally. Then I tried Windows Defender and Windows Malicious software removal tool, however both would freeze half way thru the scan.

Here is a list of the problems I can identify so far:

a) Windows cannot start in safemode

:thumbup2: When starting windows normally it shows a Error message : Cannot load local profile creating Temp profile.
As a result I lose all my settings and preferences.

c) A particularly important file in my MS Flight simulator 2004 game called Air file does not have the normal notepad icon.
It now has a new Air installer icon, whenever i try to open it there is a command line type screen with a message saying:
' The application could not be installed because the Air file is damaged please obtain a new one from the author'.This is on
every air file on every simulator aircraft in the game. Even when i re-install any aircraft the air file is still damaged.

d) LPVideo.dll file i found out is one of the files sitting in my system32 folder. an online search tags it as a malicious file.
I keep getting periodic media broadcast from some unknown website, mostly of entertainment contents. There is no visual
display just audio.

e) There is also a 5 min periodic computer sound like when an application or process starts then the hard drive runs up and all running processes freeze for a few seconds.

I hope this is descriptive enough for some one to please help with this problem. Thank you.

I run a Gateway computer
Windows XP Pro
Version 2002
SP 2
Intel Pentium 4 CPU 1.8Ghz
512mb ram
Two separate 20Ghz hard drives, primary and secondary.

Hello and welcome to Bleeping Computer

We apologize for the delay in responding to your request for help. Here at Bleeping Computer we get overwhelmed at times, and we are trying our best to keep up. Please note that your topic was not intentionally overlooked. Our mission is to help everyone in need, but sometimes it takes just a little longer to get to every request for help.

If you have since resolved the original problem you were having, we would appreciate you letting us know. If not please perform the following steps below so we can have a look at the current condition of your machine.

If you have not done so, include a clear description of the problems you're having, along with any steps you may have performed so far.

Upon completing the steps below another staff member will review and take the steps necessary with you to get your machine back in working order clean and free of malware.

If you have already posted a DDS log, please do so again, as your situation may have changed.
Use the 'Add Reply' and add the new log to this thread.

Thanks and again sorry for the delay.

We need to see some information about what is happening in your machine. Please perform the following scan:
  • Download DDS by sUBs from one of the following links. Save it to your desktop.
  • Double click on the DDS icon, allow it to run.
  • A small box will open, with an explaination about the tool. No input is needed, the scan is running.
  • Notepad will open with the results.
  • Follow the instructions that pop up for posting the results.
  • Close the program window, and delete the program from your desktop.
Please note: You may have to disable any script protection running if the scan fails to run. After downloading the tool, disconnect from the internet and disable all antivirus protection. Run the scan, enable your A/V and reconnect to the internet.
