This has to be a Classic of them all for M$.

I have been using M$ Office 2003 for over 5 years, getting Updates regularly over that time, but now they have decided that what I have is an Illegal Copy?

Now they want $US149.00.

What the Heck for?

If what I use was Illegal, it would never have been Updated?

Is it just twist it about to suit your self?

The Program inserted by M$ is similar to Malware. Little Nagging Icon in your Tray.

Problem is they are supposed to ask for Permission for that, but they Installed it without Permission.

I Just am going to use Open Office Free from now on in and Block other M$ Updates untill I resolve this.

Can anyone tell me how to remove that Star Icon from my Tray?

I never asked for it to be there.

I am certainly taking it further.

:flowers:

OGA is finding all the illegal Copies.now. Best to dump Microsoft Office, and get Open Office.IMO.

EDIT. I paid in the purchase price, of my 2 newer Computers, to have Microsoft Office installed.
I find that the Computer Shop, just installed a copy from their Flash Drive, or whatever.
Doesn't make me a Criminal. I paid the money,in good faith.
I uninstalled both, and now have Open Office, which does the job fine.

The voluntary update helps ensure that customers have genuine Office and are better able to avoid the pitfalls of non-genuine software.

That did not happen!

No where do you state whether you have a legal copy of MS Office.

If legal, you should be able to straighten this out with Microsoft.

If illegal, you obviously have no reason to complain since you've gotten away with using it for over 5 years.

Just my 2 cents.

I know you think you understand what you thought I said,
but I'm not sure you realize that what you heard is not what I meant!

Problem is solved, Thank you DTSM.

I installed Open Office and M$ little Malware thing is gone.

No way was I going to spend $US149 to reregister a Program that is quite Legal, so I am happy to go else where, as I am sure many others will.

Mr. Gates is having a bit of a lean time and seems to now be trying to con money out of people, not realising the damage it is doing to Customer Relations. Maybe one day he will wake up?
