Well last night I read the tutorial on how to remove Home Search Assistant, and I got everything ready to remove it (downloading all the programs and whatnot). Well today when I actually started the removal process, I ran into a problem pretty early. Once I got into safe mode, I went to step 2 which is Identify the file and name of the malware service. Well, I couldn't find any of the three services listed in that step (Network Security Service, Workstation Netlogon service, or Remote Procedure Call (RPC) Help). I did find a couple services similar to the ones above though, including Workstation, Remote Procedure Call (RPC), and Remote Procedure Call (RPC) Finder I believe. I'm really not sure what to do without being able to find these, and would really like this malware off of my computer as it gets very annoying. Thanks for the help.

By the way, before even trying to remove HSA, I ran a virus scan and several Spyware scans using Spybot Search and Destroy and Adaware and neither helped. If it matters, my log is posted in the HJT Log forum, but I've received no help yet and figured I'd just go through that tutorial. Thanks again.

Edit: Here's my log thread http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/forums/My_...Bad-t21009.html

If you've posted an HJT Log you're going to get the best help this site has to offer, you just have to be patient. Messing around with your system in the meantime is counter-productive.

Soltek QBIC, Pentium 4 3.0GHz, 512MB RAM, 200GB SATA HDD, ATI Radeon 9600XT 256MB, Netgear 54Mb/s WAP, ridiculously expensive Satellite Broadband
Windows XP Home SP2, Trend Micro Internet Security, Firefox, Thunderbird, AdAwareSE, Spybot S&D, SpywareBlaster, A-squared Free, Ewido Security Suite.
