I would like to uninstall unwanted start up programs in Windows XP. My computer is slow and takes forever to load.
I have gone to Run and typed in msconfig. But, I do not know which programs are essential and which ones I can uncheck. I do not know what the abbreviations mean.
When I uncheck and restart to remove the programs from Start, does it just uncheck, or does it remove them? Will they still be ther so I could get back to them later if I needed them?
I don't want to do anything that will harm my computer or cause problems later.
Could I use Restore to get them back later?
Thanks from this 78 year old Granny. :flowers:

You can check the programs out using the Startup Database located here:
Startup Database

Unchecking the entries will just disable them, not remove them, so if you decide you need it later, you can just go back and re-check them.
