I HAVE SOME HOME-MADE VIDEOS (WMV} WHICH I'D LIKE TO EDIT. IN WMM THE FIRST SEVERAL FRAMES PLAY OK, THEN IT FREEZES. THE PROGRESS BAR CONTINUES ACROSS THE SCREEN BUT THE VIDEO IS LOCKED. ONCE THIS HAPPENS NOTHING (IN WMM) WORKS. I HAVE XP HOME, 2G RAM, 80G HARD DRIVE, 40G FREE SPACE. IT'S A DELL 1520 LAPTOP. THANKS, BOYD.

Hi .

Well...WMM is going to save the file to My Videos...so I would defrag the C: partition (after running chkdsk /r on the C: partition) and ensure that I've done all that I can reasonably do to make the edit procedure smooth.

I've had WMM freeze on me before and these are the steps that I took to overcome it, after ensuring that I had sufficient free hard drive space on my C: partition.

It's also possible that WMM gets damaged, so you might want to try uninstalling it and then reinstalling it.

Is XP current with critical updates?

Louis
