When I do a search in Internet Explorer and Firefox and click on the links I am redirected to an advertisement page, usually something related to the search request.

I had a program called Search Assistant in my Add/Remove Programs list and used Advanced Uninstaller Pro to do a forceful uninstall.

Now the program is gone from my list but is my searches are still being redirected. Just not as often.

If anyone can help on this I would that would be great. I have searched the forums but cannot find one with the exact same problem I have.

Hi

It sound like you still have an infection which is causing your problem.
I suggest you make a post in the Am I Infected? What Should I do? forum.
For advice and instructions on how to do this, follow this link. http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/forums/t/182397/am-i-infected-what-do-i-do-how-do-i-get-help-who-is-helping-me/
