Hi. I'm on Windows XP and recently my computer is having some serious lag issues like when I play a video the sound gets left behind by the video and vice versa. and also when I play a music file the audio is very choppy. Everything lags behind even just typing words in an internet browser. But then sometimes everything goes normally but that's only about 5% of the time.

I have recently installed .netspeedboost. I also Disabled some services in msconfig though the next boot up some were enabled again.
Scanned with Eset Smart Security and Spybot S&D and removed the infections.
rescanned and found nothing but then the lag still remains.

I thought this was perhaps due to the rare ocassion of the computer being turned off so I'm giving it some rest
but then I can't control my siblings using the same computer.
I would appreciate any help given
