Saw a link on here a while back, but i'm not finding it in the topics in my history. Maybe I'm skipping over it, without knowing.

I'm specifically looking for the start menu fix for the quick launch icons that are all bollixed up for XP SP2.

In my quicklaunch, I have no icons present. If I hover over the leftmost portion of it, however, I get the notification to "show desktop." This has also been replaced with other, random icons before.

The site I was thinking of was Kelly's Corner. I'm trying to find the fix now, unless you know which one can specifically fix my problem.

Maybe it's this one: http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/forums/ind...ost&p=83173

There was a very helpful posting about icons on the desktop and the system tray a couple weeks ago; http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/forums/ind...t&p=1154623

Try this one, Mate?

Right click on Tool Bar, select Properties and unselect Hide inactive icons, it is down the bottom. That should fix it,

No, that's my system tray.

The problem I have is in the quick launch section, next to the Start button. Rght now, I see an avira umbrella icon, instead of a show desktop icon. But clicking it shows the desktop and minimizes all windows.

You could also try switching to Classic View First?

Right click on Toolbar and select Properties, go to Start Memu and select Classic Start Menu, then do as I said earlier? You can change it back later.

Can you try what I suggested, Mate?

It will not harm anything!

If that doesn't work, someone else may have a better idea here?

I am not familar with Avira? Maybe it could be trying to control it?

I did change the start menu properties to classic start menu. It did not affect the quick launch icons.

Would Avira have put in an Icon that is doing it?

Try unstalling it and reinstall, unchecking any boxes that say installing Icons?

I am honest, I am just taking a guess on this one now! Only thing I can think of that is logical.

Maybe just delete the Avira Icon from the Tray and ensure that Quick Start is activated?

Right click on a blank spot in the Task Bar, when it opens click on Toolbars, if there isn't a check mark next to Quick Launch click on Quick Launch.

Family and loved ones will always be a priority in my daily life.  You never know when one will leave you.
