I want to know where i can get a copy of TankWars, very similar to ScorchedEarth. It is an old game probably 10 or so years ago or more. I love it and i would like to have it to work on XP SP2. I have Scorched Earth working on XP sp2 but prefer Tankwars. Don't know why Scorched Earth was more popular and more known to the other but if anyone knows where i can get it please let me know. Cheap or Free.

well, you might want to seriously consider:
DOSBox

DOSBox's webpage

this emulates CPU, sound card, various other things that dos used
... specifically to get old games to run on current machines.

i have played with this some... mostly to get Ultima Underworld
to run... im sorry to say i am rather spoiled by the nice interface
offered by Morrowind... although some of my best memories are
of playing Underworld...

hope this helps!

Ahhh, the memories of wasting my college days playing Scorched Earth!

I don't know about finding a copy of the old DOS game that would work well on the XP, but I DID find a dynamite update to the classic game, called Scorched 3D. Trust me, you'll love this version way more than the DOS version.

Enjoy! (and spread the word, these guys deserve a lot of credit for the improvements they've made to it)

Hmm, not sure what that problem is, but it sounds like it's something that can be turned off in Options or Preferences. I think I know what you're talking about, you should just hit continue or something.

that's sorted out, the game is great but the only thing i hate about it is it's very hard to see where you're shotting and the controls are stupid. and can move the gun part left and right. power up and down. But i think it's very hard in visual side you just can't see where you're going.
i'll keep practising more and see what happens.

just have to work out the camera, where the best way to have it and should be ok. It's the 3D that has it confising as it's not left and right it's 360 degrees.

I know, the camera angles are all weird and takes getting used to, but you have to admit, for a free game, it's very impressive.

very impressive for free, i am getting better at it, i think the hardest thing to learn is aming at the target. but it is fun, i know we do have to say goodbye to the old and in with the new.
i give it 7/10 because it's a bit technical. But still has all the gagets in the bomb side like the old. But what with the Bender robot from Futurama. Suppose to be tanks. i suppose part of the updated version. reccomend it for anyone for free fun.
