Looks like I found the right place at last, recommended through cnet for removing start up programs and low virtual memory. A great place to be from what I see.

Always be careful when eliminating start ups, unless you are completely sure they are not needed. You can refer to the tab above each page here at BC (StartupList) for information about a vast number of entries, and guidance about what to do with them. When in doubt, don't hesitate to ask.
