I have a bunch of programs that load on start up on the bottom left hand side of my screen that I think slow my computer down.I'm trying to make my computer move faster and have no hanging.Thanks

To determine whether or not to kill these programs, you can search for them at BC's Startup Database. If you have Spybot installed, it has a tool that will allow you to list and manage programs and applications that lauch on start up.
