Hi an good AM!
I have two computers hard wired to a Linksys router, when idle the one with the firmware sends 2 packets every second or so the other sends non. Is this just a function of communicating wit the router. I have run ATF and Mbam and all came out Ok.

What IPs are listed?
What ports are listed, remote and local?
What are the contents of the packets?
How do you see it, what tool do you use to see it?

Normally router communicates with the devices attached all the time. Likewise, devices broadcast to all - is this what you see?

I don't understand about "the one with the firmware" - what are you talking about?

I think the router communication is what it probably is, but why only on the one machine? My main computer is the one where I loaded the firmware to the router from it has Linksys adviser. That is the one that the local area connection lights keep blinking, my second computer is plugged in right next to it and does not blink unless it is doing something on the net. I thought it was odd that only one had the symptom being as they both run off the same router. What I am seeing is the send and receive packets on the local area display, the receive keeps blinking even when I am idle on the net. The second machine shows none of this traffic when idle on the net. I have been fooling with computers since 1962 but that does not mean I know much, the router is a new toy for my two machines and my laptop.
