Is this a Windows XP Disk or a Recovery Disk Set? If it's a Windows XP Disk *NOT GIVEN TO YOU FROM THE OEM, bought straight from the box of Windows XP.. Not from the box with the laptop* Then it will work. Most recovery disk sets are "MotherBoard" Bound. This means once on a different Motherboard, the disk will not work.

If it's a Recovery Disk, it will say:

Company Name
Recovery Disk for ___ Model Number

This was distributed by ____ for brand new ______ computers.

And so on and so forth.
Who said I couldn't have everything?
