Hello all and thank you in advance for any help,

I have been dealing with a computer problem for the last month that has just gotten worse for every "fix" I have implemented. To be honest I probably made it worse. :thumbup2: Anyways, what I am experiencing is kinda hard to explain because there are so many things going wrong with my comp. It started with a corrupt display driver. I have an integrated chip set, guess it means that my display driver and my processor?, motherboard? is combined. And a relatively out dated computer, video card. Radeon Xpress 200m in a toshiba laptop. I tried installing a new driver and it never let me. So I started trying to fix the problem and noticed that any changes I made to msconfig or regedit would not stay and I would get an error to the extent of " You do not have permission to make those changes. Check with your system administrator blah blah blah". Thing of it is I am the only user on the computer and the admin. I followed some bad advice from another forum and changed some permissions under HKEY SOFTWARE??? and HKEY SYSTEM?? to seemingly allow my user profile to make the changes. After I did that nothing got better and things really seemed to get worse. To make a long story a little bit less long I'll just hit on the basics of the problems I am experiencing and if you need any more information I will gladly comply.

After I took the forums advice, my computer will not allow me to install any anti-virus/malware software. And certain software, such as microsoft office 2007, will not run properly. There are other problems as well but I can't remember them all at this time. When I say will not allow me to install what I mean is the install will not even start. It's like something is not allowing the process to begin. I get no error or anything just won't start. With my office applications, I had the program completely installed now everytime I try to run word or what-have-you it goes to a setup window with a progress bar like it's installing, but about half way through it pops an error window that says something to the extent of " office is trying to change a permission in HKEY .... you do not have permission to make this change contact your admin." Seems like it goes back to the original problem that started me down this road.

Anyways thats all I can think of at the moment to describe my problem. Any further info needed, ask, and i will respond. Thank you so much for your time as I know it is a very valuable commodity. Hello and welcome to Bleeping Computer

We apologize for the delay in responding to your request for help. Here at Bleeping Computer we get overwhelmed at times, and we are trying our best to keep up. Please note that your topic was not intentionally overlooked. Our mission is to help everyone in need, but sometimes it takes just a little longer to get to every request for help.

If you have since resolved the original problem you were having, we would appreciate you letting us know. If not please perform the following steps below so we can have a look at the current condition of your machine. If you have not done so, include a description of your problem, along with any steps you may have performed so far.

Upon completing the steps below another staff member will review and take the steps necessary with you to get your machine back in working order clean and free of malware.

If you have already posted a DDS log, please do so again, as your situation may have changed.
Use the 'Add Reply' and add the new log to this thread.

Thanks and again sorry for the delay.

We need to see some information about what is happening in your machine. Please perform the following scan:
  • Download DDS by sUBs from one of the following links. Save it to your desktop.
  • Double click on the DDS icon, allow it to run.
  • A small box will open, with an explaination about the tool. No input is needed, the scan is running.
  • Notepad will open with the results.
  • Follow the instructions that pop up for posting the results.
  • Close the program window, and delete the program from your desktop.
Please note: You may have to disable any script protection running if the scan fails to run. After downloading the tool, disconnect from the internet and disable all antivirus protection. Run the scan, enable your A/V and reconnect to the internet.
