Hey guys, its my first time posting here so please go easy one me : ) I logged onto my computer yesterday and when I did it told me that I had some spyware/malware issues. I didnt write them down at the time because I figured that I would just run spybot and take care of them. To my surprise, Spybot will not launch! When I double click on the Icon, the hourglass pops up like it is executing but thats all it does. I then tried a reboot of the system and when the windows login screen came up and I pressed the login button the screen froze up. Several reboots later and it finally let me in. Still the same problem with Spybot. I ran an anti-virus scan from Clamwin and it found nothing. I downloaded Cyberdefender on a thumbdrive from my laptop and transfered it to the infected computer and it found 4 items but would not remove them unless I upgraded to the full product. I wasnt about to spend money on a product since I was unsure that it would even fix my problem, so I tried AVG virus/spyware program and ran it and went to bed. When I woke up and came to the computer it found and fixed 12 issues. After preforming a reboot the following messages came up on my screen

"Error loading C:\Documents and Settings\Administrator\Application Data\Macromedia\Common\701a00761.dll

Also in another dialog box I had this message

"To help your computer Windows has closed this program" "WMI"

The computer is unstable. Sometime I can log in and some times it freezes up at the login screen. It seems to always freeze up once im in windows and try to open a few programs.

I am running windows XP professional Version 2002 SP3
with an AMD Phenom 9850 quad core at 2.5ghz with 4gigs of ram

If you need anymore information please let me know.

I ran the program DDS like the instructions said to and the info is posted below

Thank you for your time and support.

Hello and welcome to Bleeping Computer

We apologize for the delay in responding to your request for help. Here at Bleeping Computer we get overwhelmed at times, and we are trying our best to keep up. Please note that your topic was not intentionally overlooked. Our mission is to help everyone in need, but sometimes it takes just a little longer to get to every request for help.

If you have since resolved the original problem you were having, we would appreciate you letting us know. If not please perform the following steps below so we can have a look at the current condition of your machine. If you have not done so, include a description of your problem, along with any steps you may have performed so far.

Upon completing the steps below another staff member will review and take the steps necessary with you to get your machine back in working order clean and free of malware.

If you have already posted a DDS log, please do so again, as your situation may have changed.
Use the 'Add Reply' and add the new log to this thread.

Thanks and again sorry for the delay.

We need to see some information about what is happening in your machine. Please perform the following scan:
  • Download DDS by sUBs from one of the following links. Save it to your desktop.
  • Double click on the DDS icon, allow it to run.
  • A small box will open, with an explaination about the tool. No input is needed, the scan is running.
  • Notepad will open with the results.
  • Follow the instructions that pop up for posting the results.
  • Close the program window, and delete the program from your desktop.
Please note: You may have to disable any script protection running if the scan fails to run. After downloading the tool, disconnect from the internet and disable all antivirus protection. Run the scan, enable your A/V and reconnect to the internet.

Information on A/V control HERE

R,
K
