Hi, hoping you guys can help - i'm currently on my laptop, posting about my PC. I downloaded a torrent about 5 or so days ago, which had installed a program named "Fullmovies.exe" onto my computer. I think it hijacked my PC's browsers, whenever i tried to search on google it would redirect me to a survey about cows, and other search engines. i couldnt access the sites unless i copy pasted the website into the address bar.
Like a fool, i uninstalled it through its own uninstallfullmovies.exe, which in turn denied all access to the internet for me. what's peculiar about this though, my Rainmeter Desktop widget tells me that my computer is downloading AND uploading small packets of up to 10kbs every 5-8 seconds even though i cant access the internet. attatched is a screenshot of said widget. (downloadupload.bmp)

Ive run several anti-virus/malware/spyware programs, including SuperAntiSpyware, Spybot - Search & Destroy, Malwarebytes, Trend Micro RUBotted, Hijackthis and Combofix. Several of them had found various trojans and other malware, but im not sure how to pull up the logs to tell which exact trojans those programs removed.
I'm not also sure if its related or not, but i also sometimes get a Fastfat.sys bluescreen on startup.

I run BB4Win as my windows shell, just in case you needed to know.

Here's my DDS log

Hi kinomiyatakao,

Welcome to BC HijackThis forum and sorry for the delay. I am farbar. I am going to assist you with your problem.

Please refrain from making any changes to your system (updating Windows, installing applications, removing files, etc.) from now on as it might prolong handling your log and make the job for both of us more difficult.
• Tell me if you have done anything since previous post. Or you have run any other tools. Also tell me how is the current condition of your computer.

• To get an idea about the current condition of you computer download random's system information tool (RSIT) by random/random from here and save it to your desktop.
• Double click on RSIT.exe to run RSIT.
• Set the scan files/folders to 3 Months.
• Click Continue at the disclaimer screen.
• Once it has finished, two logs will open. Please post the contents of both log.txt (<<will be maximized) and info.txt (<<will be minimized)

Note 1: If you have difficulty finding the logs, the logs are in this folder: C:\rsit

Note 2: The tool takes not more than one minute to scan the system.
• RSIT downloads, installs and runs a Hijackthis to create a Hijackthis log beside its own log. But in case you still don't have internet connection please do the following:

Your Hijackthis version is out of date. We need to update your version of Hijackthis to the latest release.
• Go to Add/Remove Programs and uninstall Hijachthis from there.
• Click here to download HijackThis Installer.
• Save HJTInstall.exe to your Desktop.
• Double click on the HJTInstall.exe icon to start the installation.
• When a window pops up asking you the directory to install the program please accept the proposed default directory.
The program will automatically place a shortcut on your desktop and if further use of the program is required, you can click on the shortcut to run the program.
• Please run Hijackthis. Click Do a system scan and save a logfile then copy and paste the content of the log to your reply.
• You have run Combofix, which is not recommended to do on your own. But we need to see its log. If you have run Combofix once the log is here:
C:\Combofix.txt
If you have run Combofix more than once go to C:\Qoobox folder and open it. There you see CombofixX where X is a number. Please post the content of CombofixX log with the highest number.
You may attach all the log except Hijachthis log. The Hijackthis log is better to be copied and pasted.

You might want to save this page on your favorites, so you can find it again when you return.

Hello Farbar, thanks for the reply.

I havent run anything on my PC after my first post, and i've kept it turned off and disconnected from my router for the past week. The combofix log i found was not in fact named Combofix(number), but Combofix-Quarantined-files.txt.

Here is my HJT log.

Hi again,

Your log(s) show that you are using so called peer-to-peer or file-sharing programs. We are not here to pass judgment on file-sharing as a concept. But file-sharing is used to infect users as tremendous amount of prospective victims can be reached through it.

It is therefore possible to be infected by downloading manipulated files via peer-to-peer tools and thus suggested to be used with intense care. Some further readings on this subject, along the included links, are as follows: "File-Sharing, otherwise known as Peer To Peer" and "Risks of File-Sharing Technology."

Removal Instructions

Our first priority is to repair connection as soon as possible.
• Turn off Windows automatic updates as it might lead to unexpected results at this stage:
• Go to start -> Control Panel -> double-click System to open it.
• Go to the Automatic Updates tab.
• Select the "Turn off Automatic Updates" box.
• Click Apply and then OK.
• Important: Reboot.
• Empty all p2p (Bitlord, uTorrent, etc...) download folders. They might contain infected files. Please avoid using these p2p applications or uninstall them. Using these applications at this stage might lead to reinfection or infecting other users.

• Go to Start => Run => Copy and paste the following text in the run box and click OK.

cmd /c dir /a "C:\Qoobox" > "%userprofile%\desktop\log.txt"

A text file (log.txt) will be created on your desktop. Copy and paste the content of it to your reply.

• We need to repair the broken file associations. Download [http://www.kztechs.com/eng/download.html]System Repair Engineer (SREng2.zip)
• Extract it to Desktop and double click SREngLdr.EXE to run it
• Select System Repair from the left pane.
• Click on File Association
• Select all entries that has an Error status click [Repair]
• Refer to this image for an example:

Posted Image
• In your case, it would be .JS
• Close SREng now.
• Open a notepad (Start > Run and type in Notepad ) make sure the wordwrap under Format menu is not selected.
Copy and paste the text in code box into it.

REGEDIT4

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\Explorer\Run]
""=-

[-HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\CLSID\{7E853D72-626A-48EC-A868-BA8D5E23E045}]

[-HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\Browser Helper Objects\{7E853D72-626A-48EC-A868-BA8D5E23E045}]
• Save the file to the desktop as regfix.reg
• Make sure the Save as type field says All files.
• Locate regfix.reg on the desktop and double-click on it and confirm.
• A window pops up asking if you are sure to add the file to the registry. Click Yes.
• You get another window popup saying that regfix.reg successfully added to the registry.
Note: You have to turn off any registry protector software you have in order the changes to be taken place.

• Start in Safe Mode Using the F8 key:
• Restart the computer.
• As soon as the BIOS is loaded begin tapping the F8 key until the boot menu appears.
• Use the arrow keys to select the Safe Mode With networking menu item.
• Press the Enter key.
• Tell me if you get connected to internet there. If yes please follow the next step.
• Open your Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware, first update it, run a "quick scan", let reboot if needed and copy/paste the log to your reply.

If you didn't get connected and could not update MBAM let me know.

Note: The logs are saved by default under the Logs tab. If the log did not automatically open you can obtain the latest log from there.

Hi, thanks for the reply. Please bear in mind i can only access the internet through the laptop, and cannot download programs without the help of a USB Flash drive.

Here is the Log.Txt you wanted me to paste.

I still cannot access the internet, the ethernet cable to the router is plugged again, and i'm on safe mode with networking. attempting to access websites on internet explorer just returns a "Internet Explorer cannot Display the webpage". Same goes with firefox. Also worth noting is that i could not change the
file association for .scr files, it keeps as an error.

I'll omit the malwarebytes part for now.

Thanks again :thumbup2:

This from my previous post:

Our first priority is to repair connection as soon as possible.

I'll omit the malwarebytes part for now.

Please try it anyway and tell me what you get when you try to update it, of course in Safe Mode with Networking. Probably there is no internet connection at all but we don't now it for sure until we try something. From what you say IE or FF don't get connected. It might mean there is no connection at all but there is a remote possibility that both FF and IE don't get connected but there is internet connection.

I send you a PM for the case MBAM didn't get updated.

If you run Combofix after losing Internet connection do the following step. But if you had connection before running Combofix tell me about it and don't do this step yet.

Download ComboFix from one of these locations using the working computer then transfer it to the desktop of problem computer:

Link 1
Link 2
Link 3

* IMPORTANT !!! Save ComboFix.exe to your Desktop

• Disable your AntiVirus and AntiSpyware applications, usually via a right click on the System Tray icon. They may otherwise interfere with our tools.
• Double click on ComboFix.exe & follow the prompts.
When finished, it shall produce a log for you. Please include the C:\ComboFix.txt in your next reply.

Please do the steps in the order they are written.

You may make the CFScript.txt, all the registry fixes, bat file etc. from now on using the working computer then transfer it to the desktop of the problem computer so that it is not needed for me to mention it.
• Close any open browsers.

Open notepad and copy/paste the text in the code box below into it:

Reglock::
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\software\Classes\CLSID\{45390888-c368-4479-90f6-fb25e55cced0}]
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\software\Classes\CLSID\{5ED60779-4DE2-4E07-B862-974CA4FF2E9C}]
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\software\Classes\CLSID\{7B8E9164-324D-4A2E-A46D-0165FB2000EC}]
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\software\Classes\CLSID\{a6ab7e57-7733-4d6e-b137-7a57bb3626b9}]

Save this as CFScript.txt, in the same location as ComboFix.exe

Posted Image

Referring to the picture above, drag CFScript into ComboFix.exe

When finished, it shall produce a log for you ( "C:\ComboFix.txt"). Please copy and paste the log to your reply. Make sure you reboot the computer even if Combofix didn't reboot.

Note:
Do not mouseclick combofix's window whilst it's running. That may cause it to stall

• Run a quick scan with MBAM once more (updating by using another computer is preferred but not essential) and post the scan if it is not clean.

• To check if all devices are working properly:
• Go to start > right-click My computer and select Properties.
• Under Hardware tab select Device Manger.
• Expand Network Adapters.
• Note the device name or names listed.
• Check if there is any ? or ! sign next to the listed devices. If yes tell me about that and:
• Double-click on the listed device with ? or !
• Under General tab note the writing in the Device Status section and post it to your reply.
• If you expand Network Adapters and there is no ? or ! sign:
• Double-click on the listed device(s).
• Under General tab note the writing in the Device Status section and post it to your reply.
• Please proceed to the next step only if the Network Adapers are working properly.
• Please run Notepad (start > All Programs > Accessories > Notepad) and copy and paste the text in the code box into a new file:

@echo off
>Log1.txt (
nslookup google.com
ping google.com
echo.
route print
)
start Log1.txt
Del %0
• Go to the File menu at the top of the Notepad and select Save as.
• Select save in: desktop
• Fill in File name: test.bat
• Save as type: All file types (*.*)
• Click save.
• Close the Notepad.
• Locate and double-click tast.bat on the desktop.
• A notepad opens, copy and paste the content it (log.txt) to your reply.
• Repair connections:
• Go to the Control Panel then open Network Connections.
• Click once on your active Connection.
• From the menu on the left, select Repair This Connection.
• Try to connect to a site.

Please do the steps in the order they are written and proceed only if the desired result is not reach.

I understand you have a router, don't you?
• To remove temporary files, disable browser add-ons, and reset all the changed settings:
• Close all the open windows.
• Go to start > Control Panel.
• Open Internet Options.
• Click the Advanced tab, and then click Reset.
• Click Reset again and OK.
• Open Internet Explorer. Type the following in the address bar (you have to be precise): http://192.168.1.1
If you could connect to your router login page tell me about it. If you could not get connected proceed with the next step.

• To rule out any interference from Norton we uninstall it now. The moment the problem is fixed you may install Norton again.
To remove Norton completely please download and run the Norton Removal Tool. Note that uninstalling Norton via Add/Remove doesn't do the job.

Note: Norton removal tool is one and the same for all versions named below. It doesn't matter which version you have.

Warning: The Norton Removal Tool uninstalls all Norton 2008/2007/2006/2005/2004/2003 products and Norton 360 from your computer. If you use ACT! or WinFAX, back up those databases before you proceed.

• Now repeat step one again and tell me what you get.

I've uninstalled Norton for now. it's more trouble than it seems, haha.

Thanks again.

It would be handy if you tell me what you have already done. :thumbup2:

Removing Norton was a good decision.
• Delete the following file:

c:\program files\Uninstall_CDS.exe

• Please go to Add/Remove programs and uninstall the following, as it seems to be adware related:

Messenger Plus! Live

• Please read this carefully to understand why you have to rest your router to its factory default and change the default password: Malware Silently Alters Wireless Router Settings
• Consult this link to find out what is the default password of your router and how you can connect to internet after resetting the router to its factory default. You can print out the instructions for later reference: Route Passwords
• Then rest your router to it's factory default settings:

"If your machine has been infected by one of these Zlob/DNSchanger Trojans, and your router settings have been altered, I would strongly recommend that you reset the router to its default configuration. Usually, this can be done by inserting something tiny like a paper clip end or pencil tip into a small hole labeled "reset" located on the back of the router. Press and hold down the small button inside until the lights on the front of the router blink off and then on again (usually about 10 seconds)"

• Now follow the steps you have already figured out in step 1 to use the default password, get connected and then set a strong password.
• Configure the router to allow you to connect to your ISP server. In some routers it is done by a setup wizard. If after this you could not connect proceed with the following.
• Go to Start > Run and type in cmd
Type or copy and paste the following lines one by one and press Enter after each line (note that there is space between ipconfig and /)
ipconfig /release
ipconfig /renew
ipconfig /flushdns

netsh winsock reset

Reboot the computer if it didn't help proceed to the next step.
Note: If you get any notification please note down and post it.

• Please run Notepad (start > All Programs > Accessories > Notepad) and copy and paste the text in the code box into a new file:

@echo off
echo please wait...
>Log1.txt (
ping -a -n 2 google.com
ping 74.125.67.100 -n 3
ping -a -n 2 yahoo.com
ping 206.190.60.37 -n 3
)
start Log1.txt
Del %0
• Go to the File menu at the top of the Notepad and select Save as.
• Select save in: desktop
• Fill in File name: test.bat
• Save as type: All file types (*.*)
• Click save.
• Close the Notepad.
• Locate and double-click tast.bat on the desktop.
• A notepad opens, copy and paste the content it (log1.txt) to your reply.
• Go to start => Run => Type or copy/paste the following line in the run box and click OK.

cmd /c vfind -ltf "%systemdrive%\tcpip.sys" > "%userprofile%\desktop\ Log2.txt"

A text file (log2.txt) will be created on your desktop. Please post the content into your reply.

• Please download Lop S&D to your desktop.
• Double-click Lop S&D.exe to run it.
• Select the language and press Enter.
• Select Option 1 (Search) and press Enter.
• Wait till the the scan is finished.
• Post the log which is created: (C:\lopR.txt)
• Please run RSIT, set the list of Files/Folders created to 2 Months and copy/paste the content of log.txt to your reply (this time RSIT creates just one log).

Hi Farbar!

Posting on my main PC, the winsock reset fixed it. Feels great to be on my box again :D

Although i'm quite happy that my pc works, i'm sure that there's still something malicious in the background. Should i go for another scan? what should i use?

also, what can i uninstall from all those programs i've downloaded?

Joyously cheering :thumbup2:
