The original problem started when I downloaded a torrent with "win32.backdoor-dnm" attatched. The system automatically shutdown. I booted in safe mode and avg couldn't find anything, and I scan with a different adware program and it found, several but it was only trial. So I decided to install a different antivirus: Norton Internet Security 2009. I eventually did fix "win32.backdoor-dnm" by following some special intructions and deleting registry keys and such and after scanning with CCleaner. The problem is whenever I connect to the internet a tracker is downloaded and Norton resolves it, but my system is lagging so there is clearly more than "win32.backdoor-dnm" going on. Slow system, random restarts. A full Norton scan and Malwarebytes finds nothing.

Most recent viruses Norton found were auto dowloaded today...
recurring Irc.Trojan, Irc.Backdoor.Trojan, Tracking cookie, Downloader.MisleadApp

Recap:
Virus:"win32.backdoor-dnm"(fixed)

Running
-Norton Internet Security(has firewall)
-Malwarebytes
-Ccleaner
Spybot S&D
(I also had spyware doctor installed but it failed to pick anything up)

Augh any help would be extremely valuable, I use this computer for my online banking and bill payments.(and the bills are coming soon :thumbup2: )

Also there is a screen freeze, but not full freeze(can't click on anything or use task manager) oddly enough fixed by an angered double click, it unfroze and norton killed "Downloader.MisleadApp", second time this happened.

in the last hour "Backdoor.Ranky" was removed and "Suspicious.MH690.A" was removed 3 times

this stuff mostly seems to be happening if the computer is left idle. I do believe the win32.backdoor was just a distraction to give a more serious problem a cover to manifest.

Hi, I am experiencing various problems, a week ago a backdoor trojan was downloaded through a torrent file and I have fixed several of the problems and gone through special fixes. The problem is when the computer is seemingly clean and is left to idle on its own a batch of new trojans erupts. I have scanned with Norton IS 2009, Malwarebytes, Windows Defender, Spybot S&D in various safemodes and after CCleaner. So Im really clueless, the culprit file goes undetected until it is activated or dropped. So I really need your help guys! I will post the Hijack this log as well as a Norton log of the recent detects. Thanks!

uhh the problem has transgressed into something else... last found virtumonde... if norton is scanning on its own the computer will reset and remain in constant reboot until I use the windows cd and go into repair mode and run the FIXBOOT and FIXMBR commands in the Windows recovery console, (I think my norton is hacked or something) and if i try to restart without the cd it says boot error or something and won't start....

my windows firewall is locked on because I cant access the options because it says it can't run the ICS service, which is probably not making norton happy.

Howdy, my name is Hoov, and I will be helping you with your dilemma.

Please make sure you watch this thread for responses. If you click the options tab at the top of your first post, you can select to track this thread.

Here is what I am asking you to do during the repair of your computer

*Tell me everything that you have done, if anything, to try and fix this problem.

*Please only use 1 forum to help clear up your problem. Posting on more than 1 and following instructions from more than 1 forum will cause those helping you to pull out thier hair.

*Follow my instructions - If you can't for some reason, or if you don't understand something, please tell me. If you deviate from my instructions, tell me, it may make a difference on where we go. Don't install anything, even other programs that have nothing to do with security or malware, it could cause things to change, and I would never know it.

*Have faith. I will do all I can to get your computer working, and if I can't - someone else here will know something else to try.

*Stick with me to the end. My aim is to fix your problems, and give you the tools and knowledge to keep this from happening again.

Now onto trying to fix your computer. I am looking over your log, and I will be back in a bit with some instructions.

If I am helping you and you don't hear from me for 24Hrs, send me a PM Please!

Run comboFix.exe. Please visit this webpage for download links, and instructions for running the tool:

http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/combofix/how-to-use-combofix

* Ensure you have disabled all anti virus and anti malware programs so they do not interfere with the running of ComboFix. Also make sure you close all your browsers just before the instructions tell you to start the scanner.

Please include the C:\ComboFix.txt in your next reply for further review.

Note:
Do not mouseclick combofix's window while it's running. That may cause it to stall

Also run Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware and update it, then reboot to safe mode and then run a full scan (not a quick scan). Post the logs from both in your next response.

I need you to go to the administration tools in XP. They are in the Control Panel. Open the Admin tools, then open the event viewer. Over on the left hand side and click on System. Then up at the top click on Action and then click on Save Events As, type in system as the file name, make sure file type EVT is selected, and then navigate so it will save the file to your desktop, then click save. Over on the left hand side and click on Application. Then up at the top click on Action and then click on Save Events As, type in application as the file name, make sure file type EVT is selected, and then navigate so it will save the file to your desktop, then click save. Zip them both up into a single zip file, post them back here in your next reply as attachments.

Also, can you think of anything else that is happening, doesn't matter how little or bizarre it seems.
