Many moons ago I set things up so that I could share files between my laptop and desktop. Both have XP with the laptop using a wireless connection. There was one shared folder on my desktop and one shared folder on my laptop. When I was on my laptop I could see the desktop's shared folder under My Network Places (and vice versa) and access any files that were placed in that folder. This has worked fine for over year. Just the other day I've encountered an issue. On my Laptop, the My Network Places section is empty. I can no longer see and access the shared folder from my Desktop. If I click the View Workgroup Computers link nothing is returned and I get a message stating that the Network Path is Not Found. However, if I go to my Desktop computer I do see the Laptop folder and I can access it along with the files in that folder.

Any idea why I can no longer access the Desktop's shared folder from my Laptop and how I can get it back?

Yes, there are a few things you need to check. I am not sure whcih of them you checked already. Well, first make sure the folder you are looking for still exist. Second make sure the folder is shared. Third make sure your firewall allows for file sharing. I would start like that.

What OS are you running?
