What do you guys think is the better 500 GB drive: Seagate Barracuda or Western Digital Caviar?

Thoughts?

I've never thought of hard drives as falling into the "better" category, since I don't know what criteria I would include to base that assessment on.

I just generally try to get the biggest and fastest...and cheapest (not even the fastest, just what the speed standard might be at that time...e.g., SATA now)...whenever I decide to buy.

The Seagate shows as a deactivated item.

Both Seagate, and WD, are good products.
I prefer Seagate (because of the warranty), and others prefer WD.
I don't think either is "better", than the other.
It's really a matter of personal choice.

If money is a concern, go with the cheapest, and you can't go wrong.
If money is no object, flip a coin. :thumbsup:

Those were my thoughts exactly.

Family and loved ones will always be a priority in my daily life.  You never know when one will leave you.
