I have tried running numerous virus/spyware scans, but have come up with nothing. I'm hoping someone here could help me figure out the problem and solve it. Every now and then a warning (looks like a security center warning) will pop up and ask me to "enable protection" to block a program called Win32.Backdoor-DNM. Then whenever I start up my browser it starts in a screen telling me I'm browsing unsafely and should enable protection. Here is my log file from Hijack This:

"Welcome to BleepingComputer.com"

I'm Deacon10 or Larry if you prefer and will be working with you to resolve your problems. I am reviewing your log which requires an amount of research, so please be patient.
Just a few notes I tell everybody I work with:
  • Please reply to this thread. Do not start a new topic.
  • If you have any questions or don't understand something please stop and ask before you proceed.
  • Please set aside enough time to complete all the steps in each post and follow these instructions in the order stated.
  • Please don't run any extra "scans or fix" programs not requested by me, it could change the results in the reports I request.
  • If you have circumstances that you are aware of that will delay your response, then please let me know. This is to insure that your topic remains open.
  • Please continue here with me until I tell you your system is free from malware. :thumbup2:
Just because a symptom disappears does not mean your system is clean.
  • The following fix is specifically designed for this users post and this machine only!

Thank you for your response. I've switched over to my laptop for now so my desktop will be left in the state it was in when I took that log.

Hello Adamm,

Let's look at a few things before jumping to any conclusions.

:)
Download Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware from HERE or from HERE

Double-click mbam-setup.exe to install the application.
  • Make sure a checkmark is placed next to Update Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware and Launch Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware; then click Finish.
  • If an update is found, it will download and install the latest version.
  • Once the program has loaded, select "Perform full scan"; then click Scan.
  • The scan may take some time to finish, so please be patient.
  • When the scan is complete, click OK, then Show Results to view the results.
  • Make sure that everything is checked and click Remove Selected.
  • When disinfection is completed, a log will open in Notepad. You may be prompted to Restart (See Extra Note).
  • The log is automatically saved by MBAM and can be viewed by clicking the Logs tab in MBAM.

Extra Note:
If MBAM encounters a file that is difficult to remove, you will be presented with 1 of 2 prompts. Click OK to either and let MBAM proceed with the disinfection process. If asked to restart the computer, please do so immediately.

:thumbup2:
  • Download random's system information tool (RSIT) by random/random from here and save it to your desktop.
  • Double click on RSIT.exe to run RSIT.
  • Click Continue at the disclaimer screen.
  • Once it has finished, two logs will open. Please post the contents of both log.txt will be maximized and info.txt will be minimized)
Please post back with:
MBAM log
RSIT log.txt
RSIT info.txt

I'm sorry it's taking me so long to reply. I've been in classes all week and haven't had much time to do much of anything on a computer. I will be able to take the steps you've outlined tomorrow and post the result. Thank you for your patience and I'm sorry about the delay in responding.

Hi Adamm,

I'm glad things are looking better but lets make sure that your system is clean and nothing is lurking around. In your last post you posted 3 copies of the same MBAM log. Please follow the steps below.

Click start then Run and copy and paste the bold test below and click OK.
"%userprofile%/Desktop/RSIT.exe" /info
Once it has finished, two logs will open. Please post the contents of both logs.
log.txt will be maximized and info.txt will be minimized)

Hi Adamm,

I'm glad you continued here because we still have a few more items to address. Remember, we don't want to have anything re-appear so wait for the :thumbup2:.
URGENT NOTE: IF YOU CHOOSE NOT TO DO :) THEN SKIP :step1: I STRONGLY RECOMMEND YOU FOLLOW ALL THE INSTRUCTIONS BELOW.

:)
I notice there are signs of one or more P2P (Person to Person) File Sharing Programs on your computer.

uTorrent

Please note that as long as you are using any form of Peer-to-Peer networking and downloading files from non-documented sources, you can expect infestations of malware to occur
Once upon a time, P2P file sharing was fairly safe. That is no longer true. This practice may be the source of your current malware infestation.

Since we find the nature of P2P programs counter productive to restoring your PC to a healthy state, we ask that you remove P2P file sharing programs prior to our providing you with malware removal assistance.

Go to Start -> Control Panel -> Add/Remove Programs -> uninstall uTorrent or any variation.

To finish up the removal process,
Go to the start menu
Select Run and type in explorer
Now navigate using the left hand menu to the following folders. Delete the whole file and/or folder as highlighted in black

C:\Program Files\uTorrent<--DELETE FOLDER

Reboot your computer

:step4:
Please run Hijackthis and select "Do a system scan only" and place a check beside each of the following:

O2 - BHO: (no name) - {7E853D72-626A-48EC-A868-BA8D5E23E045} - (no file)
O20 - AppInit_DLLs: vqckxv.dll

Close ALL browsers and open windows except HijackThis and click 'Fix Checked'.

Now Please REBOOT your computer

:)
You have an outdated version of Java which, because of security reasons, needs to be updated. To update Java:
- Download the latest version of Sun Java Runtime Environment HERE
and save it to your Desktop.
- Close any programs you may have running - especially your web browser.
- Go to Start > Control Panel > Add/Remove Programs and remove ALL older versions of Java by checking any item, one at a time, with Java Runtime Environment (JRE or J2SE) in the name. It should have the coffee cup icon next to it.
- For each item that you check, click the Remove or Change/Remove button.
- Repeat as many times as necessary to remove ALL of the Java versions.
- REBOOT your computer once ALL Java components are removed.
- Then from your Desktop, double-click on the newly-downloaded Java file to install the newest version.

:step5:

• Open Notepad and copy and paste the text inside the codebox into Notepad:

REGEDIT4

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\system\currentcontrolset\services\sharedaccess\parameters\firewallpolicy\standardprofile\authorizedapplications\list]
"C:\Program Files\BitTorrent\bittorrent.exe"=-

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Windows]
"AppInit_DLLS"=-

- Save this as fix.reg > choose the Save as type and select All Files > and save it to your desktop.
- On your desktop, it must look like a white sheet with little green boxes on it.
- Double-click on it and, when you are asked if you want to merge the contents to the registry, click YES/OK.
- Reboot your computer.

:)
Click start then Run and copy and paste the bold test below and click OK.
"%userprofile%/Desktop/RSIT.exe" /info
Once it has finished, two logs will open. Please post the contents of both logs.
log.txt will be maximized and info.txt will be minimized)

Hi Adamm,

Please let me know if you are still with us. If the next reports come back clean we can give you the OK :thumbup2:
