Hello,

My wife is killing our computer with her insistence on going to internet game playing sites!!

They are slowly making this computer completely useless.

I try to stay on top of any new incoming annoyances but can't seem to get it cleaned up by myself anymore.

It is now taking 10 to 15 minutes to access the internet after each reboot.

After that it seems to run OK except for our cookie blocker going off constantly.(Even when IE is not running and the computer is just sitting there doing nothing the cookie blocker is freaking out)

I just ran a new copy of Spybot S&D and then ran HJT right after it......

Thanks in advance for your help.....

Here is the Log file info:

You are using an outdated version of hijackthis.

Please download the newer version from the following link:

HijackThis Download Site

Once it is downloaded, extract the zip file to c:\hjt and navigate to the c:\hjt folder. Now double-click on hijackthis.exe and when the window opens, put a checkmark in the box at the bottom that states Don't show this frame again when I start HijackThis.

Then click on the button labeled None of the above, just start the program. You will now be presented with the main HJT screen.

Press the Scan button and then when it is done, the Save Log button. Save this log in c:\hjt, and then copy and paste the contents of the notepad it opens as a reply to this post.

Fix this entry in hijackthis:

O1 - Hosts: 64.12.152.18 search.netscape.com

Download http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/files/grinler/pfind-new.zip

Extract pfind-new.zip to your c:\ folder.

Reboot your computer into Safe Mode

Then open c:\pfind and double-click on pfind.bat. When it is done, reboot and post the contents of c:\pfind.txt as a reply to this topic.

OK COOL DEAL!!

I downloaded the pfind thing and ran it....

Then I ran HJT again and fixed that one netscape entry....

I almost couldn't get it to work after re-booting out od safe mode....

Windows started and i logged into my account in XP and the PestPatrol CookiePatrol went crazy....It blocked 43 cookies and then The computer froze-up and wouldn't do anything....

I had to hard re-boot it and then it started up again and blocked a whole bunch of cookies again but eventually started responding to commands again....

This thing is so fried......

Anyways....

Here is the pfind.txt file info:

Sorry I missed this post !

Download Silentrunners.zip from:

http://www.silentrunners.org/

Run the SilentRunners.vbs file. If your antivirus has a script blocker, you will get a warning asking if you want to allow SilentRunners.vbs to run. It might say something like "Malicious Script Warning". This script is not malicious so you are safe in allowing it to run.

When it has finished it will produce a Startup Programs text file. Copy and paste that text file here in your next reply.
