Hello there, this is my first post so please bear with me.

I am trying to heal a friends computer and have tried everything but cannot get everything off :thumbsup:

I have searched through the topics and have tried various fixes, here are the programs I have used:

Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware
SUPERAntiSpyware Free Edition
AntiVir PE Classic
ATF_Cleaner
RSIT
Spybot
Adaware
Avg Free
SDFix

These programs have cleared alot of the problems but I still get "My computer online scan' popups and everytime I run MBAM I get these 2 infections and no matter what I do I always get these 2 (Even after I fix them):

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Winlogon\Userinit (Trojan.Agent) -> Data: c:\windows\system32\userinit.exe -> Quarantined and deleted successfully.
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Winlogon\Userinit (Trojan.Agent) -> Data: system32\userinit.exe -> Quarantined and deleted successfully.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks

:thumbsup:

Your system file, userinit.exe is probably infected, MBAM is whitelisting it, won't touch it as you can't logon without it.

These lines are usually associated with some quite nasty infection that are better analyzed and treated in the HJT forum.

Hello Mourdsoe,

I have deleted the topic you posted in the HiJack This forum as it was a duplicate of the one here. Before posting in the HiJack This forum, we ask that you please read and follow all instructions in the pinned topic titled Preparation Guide For Use Before Posting A Hijackthis Log. Following the steps in this Guide will allow the HJT Team to quickly help you with specific fixes for what may remain on your system.

Please complete all the steps in the Guide. If you can't perform a step, then skip it and continue with the next. In Step 6 there are instructions for downloading and running DDS which will create a Psuedo HJT Report as part of its log.

When you have completed those steps, start a new topic in the HijackThis Logs and Malware Removal forum as directed in the Prep Guide to post a new log.

When your new DDS/HJT log is posted in the proper forum, please reply to this topic with a link to your new topic.

If you are unable to produce the DDS log, please reply to this thread and we will provide additional instructions.

Hello Mourdsoe,

Now that you have a log posted here: http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/forums/t/207082/infected-with-a-userinitexe-trojan/ you should NOT make further changes to your computer (install/uninstall programs, use special fix tools, delete files, edit the registry, etc) unless advised by a HJT Team member, nor should you continue to ask for help elsewhere. Doing so can result in system changes which may not show in the log you already posted. Further, any modifications you make on your own may cause confusion for the helper assisting you and could complicate the malware removal process which would extend the time it takes to clean your computer.

From this point on the HJT Team should be the only members that you take advice from, until they have verified your log as clean.

Please be patient. It may take a while to get a response because the HJT Team members are EXTREMELY busy working logs posted before yours. They are volunteers who will help you out as soon as possible. Once you have made your post and are waiting, please DO NOT make another reply until it has been responded to by a member of the HJT Team. Generally the staff checks the forum for postings that have 0 replies as this makes it easier for them to identify those who have not been helped. If you post another response there will be 1 reply. A team member, looking for a new log to work may assume another HJT Team member is already assisting you and not open the thread to respond.

If after 5 days you still have received no response, then post a link to your HJT log in the thread titled "Haven't Had A Reply In Five Days?".

To avoid confusion, I am closing this topic. Good luck with your log.
