backup function in windows xp...where?

I know this sounds really stupid, but windows used to have a back up function which I cannot find on my XP computer.

If I am missing the obvious, please let me know. I want to back up the entire drive periodically.

Also what are good backup programs. I have REGCURe, which contains restore dates, but I want to back up to

cd roms. I would appreciate the help of the truly enlightened!
