Hi
I've been using several anti-virus programs to try to clean my computer.
Among them: Panda activescan, AVG, avantis

However, these programs claim to detect and disinfect several serious viruses, but don't actually seem to do that.

When I install AVG, it prompts to restart the machine as usual. If I do so, the machine will crash immediately after log on, the only way to gain access is to enter safe mode and uninstall avg or to restore a previous configuration.

Is this a conflict with XP or a trait of the virus?
I know 2 of them are backdoor serious viruses.

Also, I seem unable to open Spybot at all, it shuts down immediately after opening.

I assume I got these viruses from Kazaa Lite in the first place.

Several of the files deny access. I have ZoneAlarm installed which seems to be reducing the symptomns thankfully.
I had to delete a file called SVOHOST.exe.
Also there was a virus called "welcha" which I deleted ussing dll.exe.
Thanks to ZoneAlarm I have figured this stuff out.
Several of the files block me and don't allow access, even after being shut down in the task manager etc. and I am the machine administator

Is there anything I can do other than reformat the hard drive?

You can download Hijack this from HERE And scan and post the results HERE... We will be happy to read the results. And try to save you from the dreadful task of reformatting! Also try the 30 day trial of this program! IMO so much better than adaware!
