My Taskbar started flaking out on me. Started shutting down processes until it started acting right. When the problem cleared I did a Virus scan with Nortons. Came up clean and no viruses. I also ran malwarebytes and found no malware. I rebooted and everything seemed fine. A couple days later I rebooted the machine, and received the old logon type screen, not the usual welcome screen (I do know how to fix that). When i logged in it immediately logged me off. Booted to a PEBart and the UserInIt key was missing from the Winlogon. I added the entry and pointed it to %System32%userinit.exe, Rebooted the machine and got to a light bluescreen. Brought up task Manager and tried to run explorer Got a message that it could not find the file. Rebooted to Bart, and the file Explorer was missing. Expanded the Explorer.ex_ file in Service Pack files to %System32% directory. Rebooted computer, and now i had the desktop icons and the taskbar. Most services did not start. Restore will not work. and firewall is disabled and i could not enable it "Access denied". I also found Reader_S.exe in several locaions. i would delete them, but they would return. Could not run antispyware or virus checkers.

After searching the internet found some links dealing with this new virus W32.Virut, and how it was getting behind virus scanners and malware scanners. There was a response to run DrWeb as it was the only hope of cleaning the exe files. I ran DrWeb and it found alot of infected EXE files, and it said it cleaned them, except for a few that it moved to quarentine. I ran a second time, and it found just a couple more. I later would learn that it was from the flash drive (mem sticks). I noticed this resycled bin on each drive. I deleted the autorun.ini on each drive and deleted out the resycle folder. I then ran AVG 8.0 and all that it reporte on allmost all htm andf htlm file a HTML\Framer virus. I quess this the same as the Windows Malware Detector error on another iffected node that reports a Iframe.Double click (something like that). Anyway I have gotten to a point that looks as I have cleared the root of the problem. After a combofix it looks as though I have that resycler on a drive. I cannot cut or paste, and then noticed Automatic services did not start, and since Clipbook is not running, no paste. I can not run the network without services running. I can start and run my apps. I have not tested them all, but one or two I had to replace the EXE file.

Here is the DDS Log that I ran, and the attached file. I do have the combofix file but it says not to send until you request it

Welcome to the BleepingComputer Forums.

Since it has been a few days since you scanned your computer with HijackThis, we will need a new HijackThis log. If you have not already downloaded Random's System Information Tool (RSIT), please download Random's System Information Tool (RSIT) by random/random which includes a HijackThis log and save it to your desktop. If you have RSIT already on your computer, please run it again.
  • Double click on RSIT.exe to run RSIT.
  • Click Continue at the disclaimer screen.
  • Please post the contents of log.txt.
Thank you for your patience.

Please see Preparation Guide for use before posting about your potential Malware problem.

If you have already posted this log at another forum or if you decide to seek help at another forum, please let us know. There is a shortage of helpers and taking the time of two volunteer helpers means that someone else may not be helped.

Please post your HijackThis log as a reply to this thread and not as an attachment. I am always leery of opening attachments so I always request that HijackThis logs are to be posted as a reply to the thread. I do not think that you are attaching anything scary but others may do so.

While we are working on your HijackThis log, please:
  • Reply to this thread; do not start another!
  • Do not make any changes on your computer during the cleaning process or download/add programs on your computer unless instructed to do so.
  • Do not run any other tool until instructed to do so!
  • Let me know if any of the links do not work or if any of the tools do not work.
  • Tell me about problems or symptoms that occur during the fix.
  • Do not run any other programs or open any other windows while doing a fix.
  • Ask any questions that you have regarding the fix(es), the infection(s), the performance of your computer, etc.
