When I built my present PC I installed a second HD so that I could store pictures on it. Lately when the PC is started up in the morning it does not find that second HD. This has happened twice in the last two weeks. The first time that it happened I tried restarting the computer to see if it would find the second HD--it did not--so I performed a "system restore" and that fixed the problem. The second time it happened I did a restart and that fixed the problem. Is there anything in particular that I should be checking??? Like loose connections etc. My OS is XP Pro. Both HD's were replaced 11.11.2007. The main HD is © a WD2500AVJB-63UDA0 and the (F) drive second HD is a WD2000JB-00FUA0 I also have an external WD My Book WDG1C5000N for my back up HD.

Anyone have any thoughts on this problem???

Check both data and power connections, if you have a spare IDE data cable try switching it.

How are the two hdds connected, Master and Slave?

Family and loved ones will always be a priority in my daily life.  You never know when one will leave you.
