Hi everyone,

I'm new to this forum (at least to post directly). I get infected something or the other at least once every month and I have fixed them all myself with instructions from sites like these. But this time I seem to have gotten into some serious bleep. Anyway, I'll describe the problem.

I have Zone alarm firewall (antivirus and spyware expired)

False torrent--> got Xp Police antvirus
Combo fix + Spybot--> the issue seems to be fixed

Browser->Megaupload, some popup->spyware attack

Combofix--> deletes a bunch of stuff, but hijacker activity and zone alarm alert (init.exe trying to access internet -- blocked it)

Spybot Scan--> more stuff, Vundo, Zedo, Tinybar, Casael media etc. All removed

Hijact activity still persists (so does init.exe)

Ran Combo fix--> OS incompatible

Visited the forum:

Safe mode:

ATF-->removed everything

Malwarebyte-->removed everything it caught

Autoruns-->deleted init.exe entry from start up (showed up again after restart)

ComboFix again, this time it just clocks out after double click. Doesn't give any error or anything.

Can't install super anti spyware; can't install ad-adware (visuall C++ SP 1 error)

Can't install AVG (possibly because of ZoneAlarm)

Regedit (.exe, 32.exe) none of it works (cannot find..); MSconfig does not run; task manager DOES work; SFC /scannow does not work

Clickfraud is one prominent hijacker I see.

Anyway, I might have said more than you guys need to know. I'll get to what you'll be looking for regardless of what I've done. The Hijackthis log.

Hi,

I have bad news for you :thumbup2:

I see you're dealing with Virut (or variant). In that case, it's unfortunately a lost case - Game over situation and a format and reinstall is the fastest and especially the safest solution.

You may want to read this why:
Virut and other File infectors - Throwing in the Towel?

I see scanners already deleted legitimate files instead, so your Windows is already broken anyway.

So, I suggest you to start backup all of your valuable data/documents/pictures/movies/songs/etc.. Do NOT backup any applications/installers and Do NOT backup any .exe/.scr/.htm/.html/.xml/.zip/.rar files...
This because these files may be infected as well. If you back them up and replace them afterwards, it will infect your computer again.

Read here for instructions how to format and reinstall Windows: http://web.mit.edu/ist/products/winxp/adva...all-format.html
