...a few others are
Adware.BookedSpaced
Win32.Galorion Family
BTGrab
about 19 total.
My MS AntiSpyware 2009 Infiltration alert is continuously popping up along with the spyware alert window from below, the window ask me if i want to update it, the virus protection, but it's already on. I checked it myself. Well I don't think I have or need to buy into it. It should come free shouldn't it? I think they're asking for a PIN possibly to a credit card. Anyway, Iv'e worked with you guys before and you're the best at doing this that's why I came to you for help again. The Attach file is uploaded. Thanks Alot. I'll stand by.

Hello and welcome to Bleeping Computer

We apologize for the delay in responding to your request for help. Here at Bleeping Computer we get overwhelmed at times, and we are trying our best to keep up. Please note that your topic was not intentionally overlooked. Our mission is to help everyone in need, but sometimes it takes just a little longer to get to every request for help.

If you have since resolved the original problem you were having, we would appreciate you letting us know. If not please perform the following steps below so we can have a look at the current condition of your machine. If you have not done so, include a description of your problem, along with any steps you may have performed so far.

Upon completing the steps below another staff member will review and take the steps necessary with you to get your machine back in working order clean and free of malware.

If you have already posted a DDS log, please do so again, as your situation may have changed.
Use the 'Add Reply' and add the new log to this thread.

Thanks and again sorry for the delay.

We need to see some information about what is happening in your machine. Please perform the following scan:
  • Download DDS by sUBs from one of the following links. Save it to your desktop.
  • Double click on the DDS icon, allow it to run.
  • A small box will open, with an explaination about the tool. No input is needed, the scan is running.
  • Notepad will open with the results.
  • Follow the instructions that pop up for posting the results.
  • Close the program window, and delete the program from your desktop.
Please note: You may have to disable any script protection running if the scan fails to run. After downloading the tool, disconnect from the internet and disable all antivirus protection. Run the scan, enable your A/V and reconnect to the internet.

Information on A/V control HERE

Hello T'Ville :thumbup2: Welcome to the BC HijackThis Log and Analysis forum. I will be assisting you in cleaning up your computer.

I ask that you refrain from running tools other than those we suggest to you while we are cleaning up your computer. The reason for this is so we know what is going on with the machine at any time. Some programs can interfere with others and hamper the recovery process.

In the upper right hand corner of the topic you will see a button called Options. If you click on this in the drop-down menu you can choose Track this topic. By doing this and then choosing Immediate E-Mail notification and then clicking on Proceed you will be advised when we respond the your topic and facilitate the cleaning of your machine.

After 5 days if a topic is not replied to we assume it has been abandoned and it is closed.

Please perform the following while I am analyzing your log. This will assist us in helping you.

Do an online scan with Kaspersky WebScanner

Click on Kaspersky Online Scanner

You will be prompted to install an ActiveX component from Kaspersky, Click Yes.
  • The program will launch and then begin downloading the latest definition files:
  • Once the files have been downloaded click on NEXT
  • Now click on Scan Settings
  • In the scan settings make that the following are selected:
    • Scan using the following Anti-Virus database:
    Extended (if available otherwise Standard)
    • Scan Options:
    Scan Archives
    Scan Mail Bases
  • Click OK
  • Now under select a target to scan:Select My Computer
  • This will program will start and scan your system.
  • The scan will take a while so be patient and let it run.
  • Once the scan is complete it will display if your system has been infected.
    • Now click on the Save as Text button:
  • Save the file to your desktop.
  • Copy and paste that information in your next post.
When completed please post the Kaspersky log along with any changes which may have occurred since your first post that you believe may be pertinent to the problem.

Thanks,

thewall

Sorry I did not see the question you asked about the attachment. I don't need that right now. I would like you to perform the following , there will be two logs please post both of them.

If I seem slow in getting back to you it is because we are so busy. I won't forget you and will have something up just as quickly as I can get it put together and get it approved by one of our coaches.

  • Download random's system information tool (RSIT) by random/random from here and save it to your desktop.
  • Double click on RSIT.exe to run RSIT.
  • Click Continue at the disclaimer screen.
  • Once it has finished, two logs will open. Please post the contents of both log.txt (<<will be maximized) and info.txt (<<will be minimized)

If I have helped you then please consider donating so I can continue the fight against malware Posted Image

Sorry for the delay:

Your log(s) show that you are using so called peer-to-peer or file-sharing programs (in your case Limewire ). These programs allow to share files between users as the name(s) suggest. In today's world the cyber crime has come to an enormous dimension and any means is used to infect personal computers to make use of their stored data or machine power for further propagation of the Malware files. A popular means is the use of file-sharing tools as a tremendous amount of prospective victims can be reached through it.

It is therefore possible to be infected by downloading manipulated files via peer-to-peer tools and thus suggested to be used with intense care. Some further readings on this subject, along the included links, are as follows: "File-Sharing, otherwise known as Peer To Peer" and "Risks of File-Sharing Technology.

I do not recommend that you have more than one anti virus product installed and running on your computer at a time. The reason for this is that if both products have their automatic (Real-Time) protection switched on, then those products which do not encrypt the virus strings within them can cause other anti virus products to cause "false alarms". It can also lead to a clash as both products fight for access to files which are opened again this is the resident/automatic protection. In general terms, the two programs may conflict and cause:
1) False Alarms: When the anti virus software tells you that your PC has a virus when it actually doesn't.
2) System Performance Problems: Your system may lock up due to both products attempting to access the same file at the same time.
Therefore please go to add/remove in the control panel and remove either Norton Internet Security or SBC Yahoo! Online Protection.

I would advise you if you choose to remove Norton it can be somewhat difficult to take off of your computer at times so I am providing you with a link to assist you if it is the program you decide on

Symantec removal here

Go to Start > My Computer
Go to Tools > Folder Options
Click on the View tab
Untick the following:
  • Hide extensions for known file types
  • Hide protected operating system files (Recommended)
You will get a message warning you about showing protected operating system files, click Yes
Make sure this option is selected:
  • Show hidden files and folders
Click Apply and then click OK

Use Windows Explorer to find and delete these files:

C:\WINDOWS\system32\uacinit.dll
C:\Documents and Settings\Owner\Incomplete\T-3515163-one tin solder - greatest hits.wma

As an example:
To delete C:\WINDOWS\badfile.dll
Double click the My Computer icon on your Desktop. Or click on the Windows KEY + E.
Double click on Local Disc (C:\)
Double click on the Windows folder,
Right click on badfile.dll and then from the menu that appears, click on Delete

Now do the opposite of what you did above to Hide extensions for known file types and
to Hide protected operating system files (Recommended)

Your Java is out of date. Older versions have vulnerabilities that malicious sites can use to exploit and infect your system. Please follow these steps to remove older version Java components and update:
  • Download the latest version of Java Runtime Environment (JRE) Version 6 and save it to your desktop.
  • Look for "Java Runtime Environment (JRE)" JRE 6 Update 12.
  • Click the Download button to the right.
  • Select your Platform: "Windows".
  • Select your Language: "Multi-language".
  • Read the License Agreement, and then check the box that says: "Accept License Agreement".
  • Click Continue and the page will refresh.
  • Under Required Files, check the box for Windows Offline Installation, click the link below it and save the file to your desktop.
  • Close any programs you may have running - especially your web browser.
Go to Start > Settings > Control Panel, double-click on Add/Remove Programs and remove all older versions of Java.
  • Check (highlight) any item with Java Runtime Environment (JRE or J2SE) in the name.
  • Click the Remove or Change/Remove button and follow the onscreen instructions for the Java uninstaller.
  • Repeat as many times as necessary to remove each Java versions.
  • Reboot your computer once all Java components are removed.
  • Then from your desktop double-click on jre-6u12-windows-i586-p.exe to install the newest version.
-- If using Windows Vista and the installer refuses to launch due to insufficient user permissions, then Run As Administrator.
-- If you choose to update via the Java applet in Control Panel, uncheck the option to install the Toolbar unless you want it.
-- The uninstaller incorporated in this release removes previous Updates 10 and above, but does not remove older versions, so they still need to be removed manually.

Note: The Java Quick Starter (JQS.exe) adds a service to improve the initial startup time of Java applets and applications. To disable the JQS service if you don't want to use it, go to Start > Control Panel > Java > Advanced > Miscellaneous and uncheck the box for Java Quick Starter. Click Ok and reboot your computer.

Please uninstall older version of Adobe Reader before installing the latest version

* Click Start
* Control Panel
* Double clicking on Add/Remove Programs
* Locate older version of Adobe Reader and click on Change/Remove to uninstall it
* Click HERE to download the latest version of Adobe Acrobat Reader.
* Select your Windows version and click onDownload. If you are using Internet Explorer, you will receive prompts. Allow the installation to be ran and it will be installed automatically for you. If you are using other browsers, it will prompt you to save a file. Save this file to your desktop and run it to install the latest version of Adobe Reader.
* Close your Internet browser and open it again.

Now please open your MalwareBytes and update it. Once update select Perform Full Scan before running it. When completed please post the log it produces.

When you have finished with all of the above please provide the following in your next reply:
  • Log from MBAM
  • New RSIT log(there will be only one this time)
  • Let me know how your computer is running and any other problems you may be experiencing

If I have helped you then please consider donating so I can continue the fight against malware Posted Image

Thanks a million in the effort to get this clean again...

A couple of things, actualy a few...

1. I have not removed Norton at this time but plan to in near future. I'll keep the sbc online protection so you will still see it in the log.

2 I have to restart in order for the adobe to stop running, running now at start up so I will delete the older versions and instal the new one.

3. How can I put an Internet lock on ? I know how to lock out users using windows admin but is there a way to set a lock on any browser
that opens? I had one installed before, but all it did was lock you out of the email account and that was it. You could still browse the web. Any options?

4. I unistalled the LimeWire previously way back, but I see someone loaded it back on again :) is this always on? Meaning could someone be hacking into it at any time during the day.

5. I see what you mean about False alarms, that's probably what I had to begin with a few weeks back when I opened this blog.

Again thanks for all the help on this. I won't be able to reply until Wends night the earliest, for sure Thursday.

Thank You :thumbup2:

Again, I apologize for the delay. My coach failed to get an update on some info we were discussing and it brought on a delay. She also told me to apologize for her on our slowness in replying.

With respect to the help we are glad we could be of assistance. :)

Concerning the questions you posed:

The only thing I really know of that you can do to lock out the Internet is through the use of a program. There are a few freeware ones out there although I do not have any experience with them so I couldn't tell you which would be the best. HERE is a link to a page which lists several different site you can find one on.

Although the use of Limewire opens up the possibility of infections from being linked to various downloaders I don't believe the tool itself is a cause of infection. The problem of course is if you have been infected through its use with some kind of backdoor Trojan that contacts other sites or feeds personal info to crooks. This is the inherent danger of using P2P sites in the end you just cannot for 100% certain know that the files are clean. That and a lot of it is illegal to due to copyright infringement and in some cases has led to prosecution.

I hope that helps with what you have asked. If I was not clear please feel free to let me know.

There is one more thing I want to bring up concerning the programs you have installed on your computer. You are now running AVG AS 7.5 which is going to lose its' support shortly. With the other programs you have there is also the possibility of conflicts with this one. I am going to leave it up to you but you may well want to uninstall it. Below is our standard uninstall speech if you decide to take it off.

Click "start" on the taskbar and then click on the "Control Panel" icon.
Please doubleclick the "Add or Remove Programs" icon
A list of programs installed will be "populated" this may take a bit of time.
If they exist, uninstall the following by clicking on the following entries and selecting "remove":

AVG Anti-Spyware 7.5

Additional instructions can be found here if needed

You now appear to clean. :thumbup2:

Below are some steps to follow in order to dramatically lower the chances of reinfection
You may have already implemented some of the steps below, however you should follow any steps that you have not already implemented
    • Turn System Restore off
    • On the Desktop, right click on the My Computer icon.
    • Click Properties.
    • Click the System Restore tab.
    • Check Turn off System Restore.
    • Click Apply, and then click OK.
    Restart
    • Turn System Restore on
    • On the Desktop, right click on the My Computer icon.
    • Click Properties.
    • Click the System Restore tab.
    • Uncheck *Turn off System Restore*.
    • Click Apply, and then click OK.
Note: only do this once, and not on a regular basis
  • Make sure you install all the security updates for Windows, Internet explorer & Microsoft Office
Whenever a security problem in its software is found, Microsoft will usually create a patch for it to that after the patch is installed, attackers can't use the vulnerability to install malicious software on your PC, so keeping up with these patches will help to prevent malicious software being installed on your PC
Go here to check for & install updates to Microsoft applications
Note: The update process uses activex, so you will need to use internet explorer for it, and allow the activex control that it wants to install
  • Keep your non-Microsoft applications updated as well
Microsoft isn't the only company whose products can contain security vulnerabilities, to check for other vulnerable programs running on your PC that are in need of an update, you can use the Secunia Software Inspector - I suggest that you run it at least once a month
  • Make Internet Explorer more secure
    Click Start > Run
    Type Inetcpl.cpl & click OK
    Click on the Security tab
Click Reset all zones to default level
Make sure the Internet Zone is selected & Click Custom level
In the ActiveX section, set the first two options ("Download signed and unsigned ActiveX controls) to "Prompt", and ("Initialize and Script ActiveX controls not marked as safe") to "Disable".
Next Click OK, then Apply button and then OK to exit the Internet Properties page.
  • Install SpywareBlaster & make sure to update it regularly
SpywareBlaster sets killbits in the registry to prevent known malicious activex controls from installing themselves on your computer.
If you don't know what activex controls are, see here
You can download SpywareBlaster from here
  • Make use of the HOSTS file included with Spybot Search & Destroy
Every version of windows includes a hosts file as part of them. A hosts file is a bit like a phone book, it points to the actual numeric address (i.e. the IP address) from the human friendly name of a website. This feature can be used to block malicious websites
Spybot Search & Destroy has a good HOSTS file built in, to enable the HOSTS file in Spybot Search & Destroy
    • Run Spybot Search & Destroy
    • Click on Mode, and then place a tick next to Advanced mode
    • Click Yes
    • In the left hand pane of Spybot Search & Destroy, click on Tools, and then on Hosts File
    • Click on Add Spybot-S&D hosts list
Note: On some PCs, having a custom HOSTS file installed can cause a significant slowdown. Following these instructions should resolve the issue
    • Click Start > Run
    • Type services.msc & click OK
    • In the list, find the service called DNS Client & double click on it.
    • On the dropdown box, change the setting from automatic to manual.
    • Click OK & then close the Services window
For a more detailed explanation of the HOSTS file, click here
  • Install a-squared Free & update and scan with it regularly
a-squared free is a product from Emsi Software provided free for private use that can detect and remove a variety of malicious software. You can get it here
Note: If you have a dialup internet connection, you may also like to install a-squared Anti-Dialer which provides some real time protection against premium rate dialers
  • Finally I am trying to make one point very clear. It is absolutely essential to keep all of your security programs up to date

If you have any other questions or issues feel free to ask as I will be checking back on this topic.

Other than that if there is nothing else I can do for you then I wish you good luck in the future and thank you for using our forum. :step4:
