My labtop has a VGA port. My PC/modem has a Serial port. IS it possible to connect these 2 together via them ports? (VGA to Serial cable)

Possible? Yes
Will it work? Probably not.

Most likely the video port is hooked to the video card - so you won't be able to use the modem through it.
Do you have a PMCIA port that you could use? The adapters for them are fairly inexpensive.

Would it be possible to connect via USB 2.0? I have a usb port on both my laptop and desktop pc, all i would do is plug in a USBtoUSB cable in both? Instead of VGA-Serial.
