I have some AVI's that look like psychedelics, I tried them on my laptop an applet popped up saying I needed a different codec. I Googled codecs and a couple mentioned trojans attached to some that spooked me from down loading any.

Try the Media Player Codec Pack 3.3.1 from download.com
download: http://www.download.com/Media-Player-Codec....html?tag=mncol

Try the Divx Codec pack from divx.com
http://www.divx.com/downloads/divx

Or, try using VLC Player which should play most AVI files

Here goes:

FFDSHOW: http://sourceforge.net/project/showfiles.p...lease_id=274595
MPC: http://sourceforge.net/project/showfiles.p...lease_id=403110

No real need for "Codec Packs". If you want to try FFDSHOW, uninstall current codec packs before you install FFDSHOW.
