I was thinking of purchasing a 8'9" mini computer (Acer 1GB ram, HP 2GB ram or Gateway 1GB ram) for my grandson for his birthday. I notice most of them come with WinXP installed. The HP comes with Vista Business installed.
I was wondering if it would be advisable to purchase one with the WinXP installed. I contacted the sellers and they said they didn't think the WinXP models came with any SP packages installed. I thought if I did purchase one of those units, my grandson would constantly be bothered with notices to update to an SP update, in particular SP3.
Does anyone have a mini computer with WinXP? Did it come with an SP installed.
Any suggestions?

Some friends have told me the HP with Vista Business was not a good idea since Vista would slow down the computer, etc.
