"Welcome to BleepingComputer.com"

I'm Deacon10 or Larry if you prefer and will be working with you to resolve your problems. I am reviewing your log which requires an amount of research, so please be patient.
Just a few notes I tell everybody I work with:
  • Please reply to this thread. Do not start a new topic.
  • If you have any questions or don't understand something please stop and ask before you proceed.
  • Please set aside enough time to complete all the steps in each post and follow these instructions in the order stated.
  • Please don't run any extra "scans or fix" programs not requested by me, it could change the results in the reports I request.
  • If you have circumstances that you are aware of that will delay your response, then please let me know. This is to insure that your topic remains open.
  • Please continue here with me until I tell you your system is free from malware. :thumbup2:
Just because a symptom disappears does not mean your system is clean.
  • The following fix is specifically designed for this users post and this machine only!

Close ALL browsers and open windows except HijackThis and click 'Fix Checked'.

Now Please REBOOT your computer

:)
You have an outdated version of Java which, because of security reasons, needs to be updated. To update Java:
- Download the latest version of Sun Java Runtime Environment HERE
and save it to your Desktop.
- Close any programs you may have running - especially your web browser.
- Go to Start > Control Panel > Add/Remove Programs and remove ALL older versions of Java by checking any item, one at a time, with Java Runtime Environment (JRE or J2SE) in the name. It should have the coffee cup icon next to it.
- For each item that you check, click the Remove or Change/Remove button.
- Repeat as many times as necessary to remove ALL of the Java versions.
- REBOOT your computer once ALL Java components are removed.
- Then from your Desktop, double-click on the newly-downloaded Java file to install the newest version.

:thumbup2:
Download Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware from HERE or from HERE

Double-click mbam-setup.exe to install the application.
  • Make sure a checkmark is placed next to Update Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware and Launch Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware; then click Finish.
  • If an update is found, it will download and install the latest version.
  • Once the program has loaded, select "Perform full scan"; then click Scan.
  • The scan may take some time to finish, so please be patient.
  • When the scan is complete, click OK, then Show Results to view the results.
  • Make sure that everything is checked and click Remove Selected.
  • When disinfection is completed, a log will open in Notepad. You may be prompted to Restart (See Extra Note).
  • The log is automatically saved by MBAM and can be viewed by clicking the Logs tab in MBAM.

Extra Note:
If MBAM encounters a file that is difficult to remove, you will be presented with 1 of 2 prompts. Click OK to either and let MBAM proceed with the disinfection process. If asked to restart the computer, please do so immediately.

:step4:
  • Download random's system information tool (RSIT) by random/random from here and save it to your desktop.
  • Double click on RSIT.exe to run RSIT.
  • Click Continue at the disclaimer screen.
  • Once it has finished, two logs will open. Please post the contents of both log.txt will be maximized and info.txt will be minimized)
Post back with:
MBAM Log
log.txt and info.txt from RSIT
and a description of how your system is running

Hello KautoStar666,

I'm glad things are running fine now but we still have some issues to work on.

:step5:
I notice there are signs of one or more P2P (Person to Person) File Sharing Programs on your computer.

FrostWire and LimeWire

Please note that as long as you are using any form of Peer-to-Peer networking and downloading files from non-documented sources, you can expect infestations of malware to occur
Once upon a time, P2P file sharing was fairly safe. That is no longer true. This practice may be the source of your current malware infestation.

Since we find the nature of P2P programs counter productive to restoring your PC to a healthy state, we ask that you remove P2P file sharing programs prior to our providing you with malware removal assistance.

Go to Start -> Control Panel -> Add/Remove Programs -> uninstall FrostWire and LimeWire.
Reboot your system
Please advise me in your next post if you uninstalled them and I can remove the remains of that software.

:)
Download ERUNT
ERUNT (Emergency Recovery Utility NT) is a free program that allows you to keep a complete backup of your registry and restore it when needed.)
- Install ERUNT by following the prompts
(use the default install settings but say no to the portion that asks you to add ERUNT to the start-up folder, if you like you can enable this option later)
- Start ERUNT
(either by double clicking on the desktop icon or choosing to start the program at the end of the setup)
- Choose a location for the backup
(the default location is C:\WINDOWS\ERDNT which is acceptable).
- Make sure that at least the first two check boxes are ticked
- Press OK
- Press YES to create the folder.

:thumbup2:
Click HERE and save to your desktop
Unzip xp_vbs_file_association.zip to your desktop which will create a file called vbs_file_fix.reg
- it must look like a white sheet with little green boxes on it.
- Double-click on it and, when you are asked if you want to merge the contents to the registry, click YES/OK.
Delete xp_vbs_file_association.zip and vbs_file_fix.reg from your desktop

Next
Click HERE and save it to your desktop
Unzip fileassoc/xp_regfile.zip to your desktop which will create a file called xp_regfile.reg
- it must look like a white sheet with little green boxes on it.
- Double-click on it and, when you are asked if you want to merge the contents to the registry, click YES/OK.
- Reboot your computer.
Delete xp_regfile.zip and xp_regfile.reg from your desktop

:step1:
Please download the OTMoveIt3 by OldTimer.
  • Save it to your desktop.
  • Please click OTMoveIt3 and then click >> run.
  • Copy the lines in the codebox below to the clipboard by highlighting ALL of them and pressing CTRL + C (or, after highlighting, right-click and choose Copy):

    :Files
    C:\WINDOWS\winstart.bat
    C:\Program Files\Java\jre1.6.0_03\lib\ext\QTJava.zip
    C:\WINDOWS\tasks\ErrorFix Scan.job
    C:\WINDOWS\tasks\Uniblue SpeedUpMyPC Nag.job
    C:\WINDOWS\tasks\Uniblue SpeedUpMyPC.job

    :Reg
    [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\ShellExecuteHooks]
    "{F552DDE6-2090-4bf4-B924-6141E87789A5}"=-
  • Return to OTMoveIt3, right click in the "Paste Instructions for items to be Moved" window (under the yellow bar) and choose Paste.
  • Click the red Moveit! button.
  • Copy everything in the Results window (under the green bar) to the clipboard by highlighting ALL of them and pressing CTRL + C (or, after highlighting, right-click and choose copy), and paste it in your next reply.
  • Close OTMoveIt3
Note: If an item cannot be moved immediately you may be asked to reboot the machine to finish the move process. If you are asked to reboot the machine choose Yes. In this case, after the reboot, open Notepad (Start->All Programs->Accessories->Notepad), click File->Open, in the File Name box enter *.log and press the Enter key, navigate to the C:\_OTMoveIt\MovedFiles folder, and open the newest .log file present, and copy/paste the contents of that document back here in your next post.

:)
I see you have a few Poker Player sites installed. PartyPoker.com and 32Red Poker Room If you knowingly installed these on your system you should be carefull. Some of these sites can be malicious. Please advise me if you are aware of these programs on your system.

:step4:
  • Double click on RSIT.exe to run RSIT.
  • Click Continue at the disclaimer screen.
  • Once it has finished, post the contents of log.txt
Post back with:

Results from OTMoveIt3
Did you remove the 2 P 2 P programs?

Before i post the things youve asked for, i was unable to do any of Part 3....When i got to the point to double click it and merge with the contents of the registry it came up with > this file does not have a program associated with it for performing this action. Create an assocation in the folder options menu.

I continued to do parts 4 5 and 6 despite this, althought im not sure if i should of or not :thumbup2:

Hello KautoStar666,

:step4:
Press CTRL-ALT-DEL and open Task Manager. Once there, click File, then hold down the CTRL key and click New Task (Run). This will open a Command Prompt window. Enter REGEDIT.EXE and press Enter.
Click on >File>Import> and navagate to your desktop and select xp_regfile.reg and select open.
Click on >File>Import> and navagate to your desktop and select vbs_file_fix.reg and select open.
You should see a popup saying the reg has been successfully entered into the registry for each .reg file

:)
  • Please click OTMoveIt3 and then click >> run.
  • Copy the lines in the codebox below to the clipboard by highlighting ALL of them and pressing CTRL + C (or, after highlighting, right-click and choose Copy):

    :Files
    C:\Program Files\FrostWire\FrostWire.exe
    C:\Program Files\LimeWire\LimeWire.exe

    :Folders
    C:\Program Files\LimeWire
    C:\Program Files\FrostWire

    :Reg
    [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\system\currentcontrolset\services\sharedaccess\parameters\firewallpolicy\standardprofile\authorizedapplications\list]
    "C:\Program Files\FrostWire\FrostWire.exe"=-
    "C:\Program Files\LimeWire\LimeWire.exe"=-
  • Return to OTMoveIt3, right click in the "Paste Instructions for items to be Moved" window (under the yellow bar) and choose Paste.

:thumbup2:
  • Double click on RSIT.exe to run RSIT.
  • Click Continue at the disclaimer screen.
  • Once it has finished, post the contents of log.txt
Post back with:
RSIT log
Results from OTMoveIt3
Results from the regedit fix

Hi KautoStar666,

Your logs appear clear of any malware. :thumbup2:

Removal of some items and software we installed should be removed at this time.

:step4:
Lets flush your system restore points to minimize any possible risk of reinfection.

Creating a new Restore Point:
  • Go to Start > All Programs > Accessories > System Tools > System Restore.
  • When the utility opens, select "Create a new restore point" and click Next
  • Name the restore point - something like "After infection cleaned" or "After cleaning"
  • Click Create.
  • Now delete the old Restore Points:
  • Go to Start > All Programs > Accessories > System Tools > Disk Cleanup. Click OK.
  • Click the "More Options" tab.
  • Where it states "System Restore" - click Clean up.
  • All of the old Restore Points will be deleted EXCEPT for the one you just created.

    Reboot your computer!
:)
  • Please click OTMoveIt3 and then click >> run.
  • select CleanUp!
This will remove this program and any other malware fix programs that are no longer necessary.

And Finally...

I would like you to read the following information which I have placed below as a general read through to help keep your computer free from infection.

Update windows on a regular basis - If you do not have automatic updates enabled then
Visit Microsoft's Update Page and update your computer from there

Let your anti-virus and anti-spyware programs scan your computer frequently and don't forget to update before scanning.

Keep an eye on your firewall. Check what it wants to allow. Do not simply allow everything. If there are any processes that you are unsure of, then don't be afraid to ask for advice.

Consider using an alternative browser.
Other browsers tend to be more secure than Internet Explorer because they do not use ActiveX objects. Some ActiveX objects can infect your computer. Safer, non-ActiveX browsers include Opera and Firefox.

Since some malware can be found in temporary folders, you should run CCleaner on a regular basis to delete the files in the temporary folders on your computer.
Download and scan with CCleaner
1. Starting with v1.27.260, CCleaner installs the Yahoo Toolbar as an option which IS checkmarked by default during the installation. IF you do NOT want it, REMOVE the checkmark when provided with the option OR download the toolbar-free Basic or Slim versions instead of the Standard Build.
2. Before first use, select Options > Advanced and UNCHECK "Only delete files in Windows Temp folder older than 48 hours"
3. Then select the items you wish to clean up.
In the Windows Tab:

• Clean all entries in the "Internet Explorer" section except Cookies if you want to keep those.
• Clean all the entries in the "Windows Explorer" section.
• Clean all entries in the "System" section.
• Clean all entries in the "Advanced" section.
• Clean any others that you choose.

In the Applications Tab: • Clean all except cookies in the Firefox/Mozilla section if you use it.

• Clean all in the Opera section if you use it.
• Clean Sun Java in the Internet Section.
• Clean any others that you choose.

4. Click the "Run Cleaner" button.
5. A pop up box will appear advising this process will permanently delete files from your system.
6. Click "OK" and it will scan and clean your system.
7. Click "exit" when done.

Also, I recommend this article by TonyKlein.
->So How Did I Get Infected In First Place?

If you are still experiencing any problems or wish to ask any further questions then please feel free to post back.

Good luck and happy surfing.

Regards
