After getting this virus, doing scans using Kaspersky, Spyboy S&D, and Adaware it didnt fix the problem. So i found this thread from this website. This guy had the exact same problems as I did, and I followed to steps to get rid of it. After running ComboFix, it got rid of the wallpaper, and all the warnings about the virus etc etc. So I was happy with that, but the computer automatically restarted at weird times.
So I downloaded Malwarebytes, did a full scan and found a backdoor/trojan. I then re-ran ComboFix, following the exact steps shown in the thread with the same problems. After that, I attempted to use ESET online scanner, but windows blocked the install, so then I went on to using F-Secure.
Now the problem with this, once ive finished installing the scanner, as soon as it starts to scan, the computer resets. Ive done this at least 4 times now, and ive come to the conclusion that it just wont scan. (This is while my antivirus and firewall blocked off, as well as other anti programs.
Thats the first problem, the 2nd problem is when im using Google through firefox and i click on a new link, it comes up as a different site, either a porno or some other site that i didnt want.

How would i go about in fixing my 2 problems?

Cheers
Jason

If not please perform the following steps below so we can have a look at the current condition of your machine. If you have not done so, include a description of your problem, along with any steps you may have performed so far.

Upon completing the steps below another staff member will review and take the steps necessary with you to get your machine back in working order clean and free of malware.

If you have already posted a DDS log, please do so again, as your situation may have changed.
Use the 'Add Reply' and add the new log to this thread.

Thanks and again sorry for the delay.

We need to see some information about what is happening in your machine. Please perform the following scan:
  • Download DDS by sUBs from one of the following links. Save it to your desktop.
  • Double click on the DDS icon, allow it to run.
  • A small box will open, with an explaination about the tool. No input is needed, the scan is running.
  • Notepad will open with the results.
  • Follow the instructions that pop up for posting the results.
  • Close the program window, and delete the program from your desktop.
Please note: You may have to disable any script protection running if the scan fails to run. After downloading the tool, disconnect from the internet and disable all antivirus protection. Run the scan, enable your A/V and reconnect to the internet.

Hello, 55psi

After getting this virus, doing scans using Kaspersky, Spyboy S&D, and Adaware it didnt fix the problem. So i found this thread from this website. This guy had the exact same problems as I did, and I followed to steps to get rid of it. After running ComboFix, it got rid of the wallpaper, and all the warnings about the virus etc etc. So I was happy with that, but the computer automatically restarted at weird times.

This was a bad idea. Running these tools before getting a look at your machine has destoryed infection markers and indications.. and as a result I am unable to positively identify the infection on your machine.

Please post the contents of C:\ComboFix.txt

A copy should be saved in C:\qoobox. Pick the one with the highest number.

Hello, 55psi
Please do an online scan with Kaspersky WebScanner.
  • Please visit the Kaspersky Online Scanner website.
Note: If you are using Windows Vista, open your browser by right-clicking on its icon and select 'Run as administrator' to perform this scan.
  • Click on the Accept button and install any components it needs.
  • The program will install and then begin downloading the latest definition files.
  • After the files have been downloaded on the left side of the page in the Scan section select My Computer
  • This will start the program and scan your system.
  • The scan will take a while, so be patient and let it run.
  • Once the scan is complete, click on View scan report
  • Now, click on the Save Report as button.
  • Save the file to your desktop.
  • Copy and paste that information in your next post.
In your next reply, please include the following:
  • Kaspersky's Log

Hey there, i started the antivirus and it took half the day to get to 20%, so i gave up on it and reinstalled firefox hoping that when opening links it will actually go to its intended location rather than not. And it worked. When opening links from google search it goes straight to the link whereas before it went to different sites.
I scanned the computer with malware bytes, spybot, and bitdefender. And everything seems to be gone. If theres a different scanner that you'd like me to use which is a lot quicker than kaspersky, then feel free to jump a head.

EDIT: Also everytime i turn the computer on it starts installing "Security Update for Microsoft XML Core Services 4.0 Service Pack 2" to help prevent hackers getting into the computer. What should i do to stop this?

Cheers
Jason

Hello :)

You should install the update. :thumbup2:
You can download the manual installer for it here if the automatic one is causing you problems -> http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details...;displaylang=en

Glad to hear things are going better :step4: Do you have any more questions at this point?
