Last night I was working on my pc, when a message appeared advising that Defender had detected a trojan but was unable to remove it. I tried to copy and paste the name of the virus but when I clicked on it another window opened up advising me to download some software (with a Microsoft Gold certificate).

Initially I thought that this was a dupe, trying to get me to purchase phoney software, so I disregarded it, until this morning when I switched on again and found that for some unknown reason my pc was trying to run netgear and create a wireless connection, independantly.

To be honest my reaction was to panic, and I immediately wiped all history elements from my IE log (cookies, history etc) before I could retrace my steps from last night. I have since run Windows defender and AVG free. They have both found nothing. But I do not feel 100% confident in AVG free so I endeavoured to find out more. This led to Hijack this. And I really just want to make sure that nothing is amiss and, not knowing who else to turn to, ask for some informed assistance.

Your help is much appreciated.

Cheers,
