first i am not one hundred percent sure what this problem is

the facts
hp pavilion entertainment pc dv2000

vista is the os

when i attempt to turn on the system the blue lights light up stay lit nothing else happens nothing from the screen no sounds of computing.
i have tried every keyboard combination i can think of and hooking it up to a monitor or tv does not yield results

the disk tray can be opened and if a disk is inserted it is spun but idk if the laptop is reading it

history:

a little while ago it could run just fine but after a set amount of time (10 mins about) it would just shut down

tell me what are my options

I've experienced a similar problem once before, the resulting issue was blown motherboard resistors which was not pretty.

If your issue was the same as mine your options are; replace the motherboard, usually very costly and difficult in a laptop.

Or get a new computer.

However lets not jump to a rash decision just yet, firstly when you boot up the computer you say you see absolutely no video.

Does the back light appear to be on? Or is it just a dead jet black?

Reason for Edit: Typo

"hp pavilion entertainment pc dv2000"

My niece has the exact same laptop .
The dv2000 series had a known issue with the motherboards failing.
HP had extended the warranty on replacing the motherboard because of the issue.
You might try HP & see if the extension is still in effect.
I doubt it is though.

I think you may want to call HP and check your warranty information.
If I am helping you and I do not respond within 24 hours, please send me a PM. :)

It is past the one year warranty but it does have one of the two symptoms of the extended warranty
The following symptoms apply to Pavilion dv2000 and Presario v3000 notebooks:

*
The notebook does not detect wireless networks and the wireless adapter is not detected in the Device Manager.
*
There is no video on the computer LCD panel or external monitor.

so i am calling HP if the laptop does not fall under the category it is brick forever thank you for the help everyone
